Easy and fun to play.
C. Locheiven
Worse still (as of Nov 2013) the "Look Inside" preview pages shown for both "E-Z Play" and "Big Note" are actually pages from the "Easy Piano" version.
J. White
It is definitely for beginner to intermediate pianists.

After reading a good number of other reviews on this book, I'm glad to see that no one really had anything negative to say, and that there weren't really any bad ratings. But, I DID notice that some people were making comments that lead me to believe they might not exactly have a strong understanding of how "levels" of printed music are indicated. What I mean is that, several of the reviews mentioned that they didn't expect the arrangements to be "that easy", and that people who have a lot of experience can play much harder arrangements. Well, this book is clearly labeled BIG-NOTE PIANO, which is an indicator of skill level. Big-Note Piano arrangements are for a not-quite-intermediate pianist. Easy Piano arrangements are for intermediate pianists. And, if there is no indicator on the cover, then it's most likely on the upper end of skill. Just thought I should point that out, in case anyone is reading these reviews, and looking to purchase it as a gift for the musician in your life. Why did I only give 4 stars? A personal preference - I have always thought that piano books should be bound with plastic comb binding spines, as traditional binding makes it very difficult to keep books open on the music stand!

As an older woman (seventies) I find this the best song book I have ever seen. It has all the great romantic songs of the past 60 years. I love it! You will too, if you are old enough to remember the music of Gershwin, Berlin, Kerns, etc. It won't disappoint you, I promise.

I'm very new to the piano (3 months when I bought this book). I can't get my hands on enough material that isn't so basic, it's not a challenge, yet not so difficult that it discourages.
The songs in this book are definitely not EZ (my opinion is, you should have at last 6 months under your belt), but a novice like me can learn them with practice of a few measures at a time. I tackled their EZ version of STORMY WEATHER. After 6 weeks it is still not perfected but I'm very pleased with my learning.

For these few dollars, you will have a really nice collection of classic songs that will keep you busy a real long time.

Enjoy!

And so much ado about keeping the book open!

Get yourself a magnetic clip like a long (not wide) chip clip. See this Amazon item:
OXO Good Grips Bag Clips, Set of 4, Multi-Colored.
Item model number: 28682 : pcs @ $5.59

I found a similar pack of 4 in a dollar store. Works like magic!

After taking Piano lessons for 1 year ( loving and hating it at the same time) I decided to buy this book because it looked like it would be fun to learn how to play some of these songs.

I wanted something not too difficult and not something that I would fling out the window.

I'm happy to say this book has not been flung :[]

If anything it has so many dog ear marks on it. I love most of the songs that are in this book. I can't decide which song to play- oh wait- I have, I'm learning how to play "UNCHAINED MELODY" a request from my sister.

My Piano teacher ( or shall I say teachers) taught me how to read the notes and all that other good stuff. I just recently told my Piano teacher goodbye and that I will no longer be needing her services ( she was a sweetheart!!!)

Granted one year of practicing may not seem like enough time for some people, but I'm not playing in Carnegie Hall anytime soon and while I'm no Liberachina ( I'm a girl).. I sound pretty good if I do say so myself and if I say I sound good then that's all that matters to me because I'm my own toughest critic :[]

This book has made practing so much fun that I look forward to it where when I was learning with my teacher I dreaded it so very much but did it anyway because those lessons were not free and might I add EXPENSIVE!!

Today I practice over 1 hour or 2 hours a day and loving every minute of it.

This is a great book to have for anyone who wants to have fun playing the piano again.

Easy to read with BIG NOTES... (no eye squinting involved...)

Love this book!!!

Hal Leonard publishes five different versions of this book. They're all called "Best Songs Ever", they all have an (almost) identical front cover page, and they all have an (almost) identical song list of over 70 songs, but they vary in difficulty from easiest ("E-Z Play Today") up to much more difficult ("Piano/Vocal/Guitar").

At the top center of the front cover page, there are two or three little words which tell you which version you have, as follows, starting with the easiest version, in order of difficulty:

(a) Best Songs Ever - E-Z Play Today
(b) Best Songs Ever - Easy Guitar
(c) Best Songs Ever - Big-Note Piano
(d) Best Songs Ever - Easy Piano
(e) Best Songs Ever - Piano/Vocal/Guitar

Amazon has not made this very clear, and has aggregated together the reviews from several versions, so you can be looking at (e.g.) the web page for the "Easy Piano" version but be reading a review of (e.g.) the "Big-Note Piano" version. Worse still (as of Nov 2013) the "Look Inside" preview pages shown for both "E-Z Play" and "Big Note" are actually pages from the "Easy Piano" version.

Accurate sample pages are available elsewhere, e.g. at sheetmusicplus.com, which also has the list of songs for each version.

Here is a rough comparison of the different versions:

(a) Best Songs Ever - E-Z Play Today:
=============================
Beginning level. Treble clef only, with single-note melody and lyrics (plus chord names for left hand). Very large print. Five treble clefs per page. Most songs fit on two facing pages (just a few are longer and require page-turns). Each note has the note's letter name printed in the circle of the note head.
