5.0 out of 5 stars Universal aspect of Vangelis
It is needless to say about Vangelis. But for those who are not familiar with his music, his scores were featured in movies such as ¡°Blade Runner¡±,¡±Antartica¡±, and ¡°1492:Conquest for Paradise.¡± This item which contains his oldest music that deals with space had been out-of-stock. 3.0 out of 5 stars Go for broke , buy the albums!
As I have a library of Vangelis, which includes all these tracks...

This compilation is firmly rooted in the 70's & 80's, fortunately Vanglis' musical talents overshadows the "boing-bong-dink" sound that most electronic music of those eras. There's no keyboard cha-cha-cha or samba rhythms here. Vangelis' intelligent compositions make him a one-man genre...

Although most of the retailer stores do not have this CD, the imported version is available at Amazon.com, giving us the opportunity to appreciate his great musical scores. Most of the tracks on this title are familiar with us, like ¡°To The Unknown Man¡±, ¡°Pulstar¡±, ¡°12 O¡¯clock¡±, and especially ¡°Cosmos¡±. ¡°Cosmos¡± is my favorite track, and was the theme song for the TV series of the same name. I first heard this music when I was in the elementary school, but did not have the chance to to own it until now. As I mentioned before, you probably heard some of the music from your favorite SF movies or evangelical-theme movies, that you may say, ¡°I think I heard this music before.¡± For the people who loved the soundtrack of ¡°Blade Runner¡± or ¡°Antarctica¡±, I am sure you will like this one as well. If you are a fan of Vangelis, you should add this CD into your personal music library.

There's no keyboard cha-cha-cha or samba rhythms here. Vangelis' intelligent compositions make him a one-man genre. This compilation is a exhibition of selected pieces with a common theme, space, by association if not content.

So then why this disc?
What this compilation fails to deliver are the pinacles that Vangelis has achieved in music, the eclectic genius that you find in the albums. A disservice to fans and new listeners who will better be served by the Vangelis compilations: Themes, Portraits and Reprise.
