"Gunsmoke set the tone for adult western series but this series, with the great Richard Boone, went one better and made you think. Even as a kid I knew this was a special show. Hope someday the rest of the series will be released."
"Started as a mid-season replacement in 1959, went on to be a highly rated show for years, created by the guy who originated Gunsmoke on television. Great acting, future mega-star Clint Eastwood, great guests. Another "different" western, often told from the perspective of the shows characters, most often trail boss Gil Favor."
"Henry Fonda as the Marshall, Allen Case as his deputy, who shuns violence and guns. His first series, Fonda often just appeared at beginning or end of the episode, or not at all. Probably the least typical western on tv. Can't wait to see it after all these years."
"A lot of peoples' favorite, I liked the early seasons but lost interest after Pernell Roberts left. I think this was the first western on tv to be aired in color. Wish they would release it by seasons."
"Premiered the same year as Gunsmoke, 1955, but rotated with other shows early on. Starred Clint Walker as another different type, spawned "Bronco" with Ty Hardin. The first in the long line of Warner Bros. TV westerns for ABC."
