The following review refers to the mid-priced compilation "Best of Tavares", not "Capitol Gold: Best of Tavares". I had submitted it at the right place, but somehow it got posted under "Capitol Gold", too!

This compilation has only ten tracks and absolutely NO liner notes. Not even the songwriters are credited! That's why I give it four stars instead of five. Apart from that, all the essential tracks are here! There aren't many Tavares compilations out there which include both "More Than a Woman" AND "Free Ride". Plus, of course, "It Only Takes a Minute", "Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel" and "She's Gone". So forget about fancy packages and booklets and buy this CD for the MUSIC! You won't be disappointed!

I loved this CD! Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel is the reason I ordered, but these guys are still great! There was a lot of trash recorded during the big disco days, but this is good stuff. You can't beat the price, either.

I just brought this cd today.When I saw it,I just had to have it.This cd has all of Tavares' best songs on it.I love this cd.I have been playing it all day.To me Tavares' music is the definition of "Feel Good Music".If you are a fan of Tavares or if you just like really good music,I suggest you buy this.Trust me,it's worth every penny!

TAVARES/THE BEST OF TAVARES: New Bedford, Massachusettes' soul slingin' siblings TAVARES enjoyed a respectable run of RNB and pop hits in the late 70s, even though their harmonic brand of solid stone soul rose high above the disco label they were sometimes unfairly tagged with. Joyous dancefloor fillers HEAVEN MUST BE MISSING AN ANGEL and the BEE GEES-penned MORE THAN A WOMAN shared chart space with the gritty warning IT ONLY TAKES A MINUTE and WHODUNIT, a nifty novelty that namechecked legendary detectives from CHARLIE CHAN to DIRTY HARRY. Surprisingly, the quintet also effortlessly tackled white rockers, their electrifying versions of the EDGAR WINTER GROUP's FREE RIDE and HALL & OATES' SHE'S GONE damn near toppling the originals. THE BEST OF TAVARES rounds up ten tantalyzing tracks from the me decade sure to agree with most musical tastes.

This is an excellent CD. It takes one back to the good old days! All the songs on this
CD make you want to hear them over and over. I never get tired of listening to Old School!

I was glad to get this CD for the price and such good quality. I'm satisfied.

i had not heard this music since my high school days. it is just as i remembered it. very good cd for those of us who like to reminesce to easier time. i would recommend this over the other tavares cds listed. very satisfied with product.

I had forgotten about this great group. The songs in the collection brings back memories of their hits from the 70's. Their harmonies are great and a few of them were lead singers. I would recommend this CD to any Tavares fan.
