5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent PA Camping Resource
Excellent resource for folks looking for great tent camping spots in the Keystone State. The title really says it all - this book recommends the quiet and off the beaten path organized camping sites. 2.0 out of 5 stars Inaccurate
This summer I camped at two of the places listed in the book. What was written about both places was inaccurate. For example, Ravensburg State Park is described as "quiet." In fact, the author gives the site five stars for being quite. However, as far as camp sites go, it is noisy. PA Route 880 is with 10 to 20 yards of many of the campsites. I was there on a Saturday,...

Excellent resource for folks looking for great tent camping spots in the Keystone State. The title really says it all - this book recommends the quiet and off the beaten path organized camping sites. My favorite thing about this book is that the author describes the individual sites available for camping and makes recommendations based on specific site amenities -- close to running water, in the shade, privacy/screening from other campsites, out of the path to the restrooms for the rest of the camp site, etc. This makes it much less of a roll of the dice when reserving specific sites, especially through the Pennsylvania State Park system.

Especially liked the information on which campgrounds are dog friendly.
Would hate to get to a campground and find out Rover wasn't welcome.

This is the book to have if you are interested in Pa state campground camping w/o a trailer or RV.

This entire series (The Best in Tent Camping....) is excellent.

Just about all the information you would need to reserve a tent site in advance is contained in this book. Makes planning a trip very easy. I wish I had this resource years ago.

This is the second book in this series that I have read and it is exactly what what I expected. A excellent way for tent campers to find good campgrounds. I highly recommend these books. Going to PA in Aug, Sept 2010 so will find out about some of these campgrounds. I used the book on Florida and was more than satisfied.

My first 5star rated product on amazon! I love this book so much that I bought all of these books for my nearing states, too. Auther is definitely biased toward quiet, spacious, and beautiful campgrounds which just happens to be my exact tyle of camping too. This book is important for me because I am committing my time and my family time which is rare and precious. You never want to end up somewhere where kids and wife had horrible time and they never want to go camping again. This series of book had major contribution to my family WANTING to go camping all the time.
So why rely on this book and not web reviews or other forums and chatrooms? because I TRUST the authers. Everybody has their opinion of what makes a great camping experience. I can go on countless websites that tells me pros and cons of every campsite I want to try out. The opinion that matters review by people I trust. I hit about 5 campsites based on these books and they have all been a homerun. I love their star rating system, its maps, and author's review of each campground. If you are a beginner camper or you are trying to convince sombody to like camping, you want to have this book handy.

I was there on a Saturday, and there was constant truck travel on the road. This is just one example of several inaccuracies I found written about both sites.
