5.0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to the band, May 31, 2002
This review is from: Best of (Audio CD)
TEXAS TORNADOS are a TEX-MEX supergroup that I can remember playing in the jukebox when hanging at the local bars back home. Their songs are fun, lively and will get you dancing. GUACAMOLE, HEY BABY QUE PASO, are two songs that when you start listening to the lyrics will just make you bust out laughing and having a good all time. WASTED DAYS AND WASTED NIGHTS is another great song that I really enjoy. This album is just full of great songs from a band that knows how to utilize all of their collective talents and combine them together. So go out get this album and be ready to hear some good music. After this, you will want to hear more of their music and get the rest of their albums.

"jackiesdog" (Sonora, Mexico) - See all my reviews

I first learned about the Texas Tornados (and whatever happened to Freddy Fender) when I was living on a little island in the Pacific Ocean and there wasn't much else to do after work but go to the bar, drink beer and listen to good music. The Texas Tornados were frequently playing, the louder the better. This album truly is a "best." "Who were you thinkin' of" and "Adios Mexico" are better than the Spanish versions. The only song that should have been on this album and is not is "She never spoke Spanish to me." This album brings wonderful memories of a not so distant past.

4.0 out of 5 stars Could be a 5 if only..., June 23, 2000
This review is from: Best of (Audio CD)
In light of the fact that Doug Sahm is no longer with us, couldn't we have a revised "Best of.." to include "A Little Bit is Better Than Nada"? Also there are a few of my secondary favorites missing. Texas Tornados were the greatest Tex Mex band ever. There are bands with less, but more songs on their best of CDs.

Like fun music? Have ecletic tastes? Like to sing along in the car by yourself? Order this baby and enjoy. Different styles amongst the four tornados make this a surprising listen, if not totally cohesive. Who cares! Have "una cerveza", enjoy, and then go buy more of their cd's.

The Tornados are GREAT. Treasure this CD, most likely it is the last of them all together with Flaco Himenez. Fabulous Tex-Mex.

The Texas Tornados are a well blended mix Tejano music with an American twist. Good music to play at a bbq while drinking some cervesas.

Great CD w/ all the hits. It's wonderful when "legends" come together to combine their talent.

I miss Freddy.

It is good to hear Freddy Fender again. I grew up on his music along with many more superstars of Tex-Mex. Keep the fun rolling!

5.0 out of 5 stars kick butt cd, September 23, 2010
This review is from: Best of (Audio CD)
You just can't go wrng with the Texas Tornados. These four are pure bottled energy when together. My only wish would be is if they would have gotten together 30 years ago. We would have had a ton of more great records to listen to. Freddy Fenders voice, Flaco on the squeeze box, Sir Douglas himslef and Augie Meyers on organ.
Just probably one of the best quartets in the history of music. TEX MEX music at its best.
