5.0 out of 5 stars Best Ebay Book Out There!
This book is a must read for anyone who dabbles in Ebay. The book is highly entertaining and extremely informative. I've been a seller on Ebay for four years, and picked up a lot of helpful tips from this book. Lynne tells it the way it is, and she's not afraid to say when she's made mistakes on Ebay (haven't we all?). I've read her book cover to cover three times,...

2.0 out of 5 stars Stories about ME ME ME
When I purchased this book I had expectations that this would be a combination stories about the good, the bad, and the ugly. (I considered that bad and ugly could be included on someones THE BEST things list). I also hoped to pick up tips from the self crowned queen that I could apply to my ebay business. I have been selling on ebay since 2000, but am always open to...

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting but Grandma stories got old, August 23, 2006
This review is from: The 100 Best Things I've Sold on eBay: My Story--by The Queen of Auctions (Paperback)
I thought this book was interesting, but I wish there was more useable information and less talk about Grandma. I understand that Grandma played an important part but I was looking for more. I hope in future books the author could talk more about how she aquired items (not inherited) and how they did at auction. This author has great style and I stilled learned a lot from reading this.

5.0 out of 5 stars How to eBay Successfully--And So Much More!, April 20, 2005
This review is from: The 100 Best Things I've Sold on eBay: My Story--by The Queen of Auctions (Paperback)
The 100 Best Things I've Sold on eBay is a fascinating case study of 100 of the author's auction experiences on eBay as she successfully transitioned her grandmother's antique business from a storefront in Bellingham, Washington, to the online marketplace. Lynn Dralle, The Queen of Auctions, tells her story, and her grandmother's, as she recounts each auction. She give a brief history of each item, how she came to acquire it, how she priced and listed the item on eBay, how it sold, and for how much, along with pictures.

This book is presented in such a unique format, with great pictures and design, story and heart--it's very easy and enjoyable to read. It is much more than a catalog-ish 100 Best, because Lynn Dralle is one heck of a writer and storyteller, and crafted this book into a wonderful story of family, history, relationships, travel, and ultimately, a single mother, taking up her legacy, following her passion, and building a business to support herself and her children.

100 Best Things is a great book to learn how to eBay. It is also an inspiring story for entrepreneurial women, a primer of hope for those who may be searching for a way to build a career and a business around life and responsibilities with children.

When I purchased this book I had expectations that this would be a combination stories about the good, the bad, and the ugly. (I considered that bad and ugly could be included on someones THE BEST things list). I also hoped to pick up tips from the self crowned queen that I could apply to my ebay business. I have been selling on ebay since 2000, but am always open to looking at things through a new set of eyes. This book did not fall into the usefull catagory, nor is it a 'keeper', one that I return to time after time for the 'insights' that the author has provided outright (or even 'hidden' in their writtingsZ)

On the positive side... if you leave this book without a clear idea of who Lynne is, where she comes from (mentally and physically), what drives her, or her great love of her grandmother... then you missed most of the book.

I was amused and laughed at the first 10 or so items, the history and the rest. The format soon began to wear on me. The further I read, it became clear to me that this book was not so much about the items that were found and sold, but about the person who did the finding and selling. And about Grandmas shop, and her finding and selling. I would have to say that this is more of a book about Lynne than anything else.

This is not a book that I would recommend to anybody.

5.0 out of 5 stars Starting and ending bid amounts, bid history, and more discuss strategy options and successes, October 14, 2005
This review is from: The 100 Best Things I've Sold on eBay: My Story--by The Queen of Auctions (Paperback)
Author Lynn Dralle is a third-generation antiques dealer and an eBay Power Sellers who has sold up to 20K a month through online auctions - so more than competing guides, her tips on how and what best to sell on eBay are to be taken seriously. The author's first-person descriptions and stories behind each item accompany a facing page of the auction's written description and illustration for maximum impact. Starting and ending bid amounts, bid history, and more discuss strategy options and successes.

I loved reading The 100 Best Things I've Sold on eBay. This book is extremely well laid out and easy to understand. The author gives great examples and the specific details of the items that she sold on e-bay. To me these examples were useful because she shares the amount of money that she paid for the item and not just the amount of money that she made from selling the item. A personal story accompanies each example which gives the book a great touch. After reading this book, I realized that I can make money with my "junk" because the author really proves that your trash can be someone else's treasure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Book!, March 20, 2007
This review is from: The 100 Best Things I've Sold on eBay: My Story--by The Queen of Auctions (Paperback)
This book kept my interest from front to back! It definately lit my fire to sell more on ebay. Her writing is never boring and she makes it all seem like an endless treasure hunt.........you never know what you may find! I learned some interesting lessons, too, because Lynn was vulnerable enough to share some of her mistakes, too. Great read and very valuable to the ebay entrepreneur!

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring book for ebay sellers, January 7, 2007
This review is from: The 100 Best Things I've Sold on eBay: My Story--by The Queen of Auctions (Paperback)
This is one of the first books I've read on ebay. Now 2 years later I am a Powerseller. When I read this book I was inspired to hunt for treasures to start selling on ebay. It is amazing what can be found out there if you really look. I was surprised what some of these items could sell for that was in this book.
This book will inspire newbies and Powersellers alike. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very inspiring!!!, July 24, 2006
This review is from: The 100 Best Things I've Sold on eBay: My Story--by The Queen of Auctions (Paperback)
This book was so touching, inspiring and fun, that I had to share it. I've never written (but read MANY!) an Amazon book review, but this book has inspired me to do so. As I was just a short way into this book Lynn's stories inspired me to take my own shot at Ebay. Her stories are full of heart, and provide so much insight into the Ebay sales world, and tells you what sells and what doesn't. Very educational! I went to my first estate sale over the weekend, as she mentions as one of her peripheral sources of goods. After reading about what Lynn would do at garage/estate sales and Goodwill stores, by turning over items to see if they are signed, who made them, etc. I found a tiny little bud vase at this estate sale, saw an interesting signature on the bottom, and decided to take it for $6. I was so excited to get home and do my research on this item (as Lynn describes she does). Lo and behold it turns out that my little piece of pottery is actually a gem! It's a rare piece of pottery from a very well know artist. I did the Completed Sales search on Ebay, as Lynn describes, and saw a few pieces sold, and for very good money! If I even get just a little something after selling this on Ebay, I will be more than pleased!

Thank you Lynn!

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertainment plus practical insight, July 7, 2005
This review is from: The 100 Best Things I've Sold on eBay: My Story--by The Queen of Auctions (Paperback)
There are so many books out on eBay these days.. And a lot of them are pretty dry and pedantic.

Not this one. It combines humor, spice, nostalgia, entertainment, and some tugs at the heart strings with insight, practical tips, and tested collector strategies. I really enjoyed it and learned quite a bit in the process.
