What's your "Best Time of the Day?",
By Kurt A. Johnson (North-Central Illinois, USA) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (TOP 100 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Best Time of Day (Paperback)
What's your "Best Time of the Day?" For everybody it is a little different. In this cute book, we get to meet the whole farm community, and take a peek at their favorite time of the day. The pictures are brightly colored, and fill the pages, making this book an instant hit. My three-year-old loves this book, and your young reader will too!

A Wonderful Rhyming Book about Family,
By
This review is from: The Best Time of Day (Hardcover)
Finally...an enjoyable illustrated book written about something other than animals. This wonderfully alliterated book showcases each member of the family at his or her best time of day, connecting them all in a feel-good heart-warming tale, ending with the night time. There are animals in this book for interest, but thank goodness the author highlights what matters most to children--the people around them!

Cute Book!,

This review is from: The Best Time of Day (Hardcover)
We got this for our one year old daughter because the pictures are so great. She loves to sit and look at it, and the rhymes keep her entertained when I read it to her. It is such a cute book all about a day on the farm.

Cute, except for the gender stereotypes,
By Young Librarian (TN, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Best Time of Day (Paperback)
I admit this is a cute book in many ways, but the gender stereotypes are horrible. Every instance of Mabel, the farmer's wife, relates in some way to the kitchen or food. The first time, it shows her favotire time of day being breakfast, the next time she is shown, she sends a note to her farmer husband that reads "Kisses XXX--till supper", and another time she is inviting someone in for dinner. Just a little too stereotypical. Women can do more than cook.
