Editorial Reviews

Rudy cannot get enough of the sheer vitality of Tokyo. Join the throngs at one of the world's most exciting street intersections with its blazing neon and JumboTron shows. Greet the new day at the Tsukiji fish market, where a staggering 2,000 tons of seafood pass through each day. In Kyoto, gain an appreciation for the beauty in everyday life as Rudy visits a 15th-century Zen garden and strolls the Philosopher's Walk, the most popular place to take in spring flowers. In addition to the Blu-ray disc, this combo pack also includes: 1. DVD version of the program(s) that you can play in your DVD player, vehicle or computer. 2.  Digital copy of the program that you can download to your computer and/or transfer to your mobile devices. Questar is pleased to offer you the ability to watch our award-winning programs whenever and wherever you want!

4.0 out of 5 stars Only two episodes of the show (50 minutes), November 4, 2010

Love Rudy Maxa's shows. Previous disks I had bought had four episodes. Price is steep for only 2 episodes. They are beautiful though.

2.0 out of 5 stars I was disappointed, August 17, 2011

This review is from: Best of Travel: Japan [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
I bought this Blu-Ray and I was expecting a show that actually took a look at what makes Beautiful Japan. Sure the locations are pretty and beautiful but without any cultural insight it is lost on viewers. Some effort to provide genuine cultural insight would have been appreciated. He shows you a traditional Japanese inn but instead of following the tradition of donning a yukata (Japanese summer kimono) he just plops down and eats. Japan is not a place where you go and just look around. You need to immerse yourself and leave behind your Western culture. I was disappointed at what appears to be a lack of interest on Mr. Maxa's part where it seems like he is there because he is forced to. For a true look at beautiful Japan where the gem that is this truly unique culture is genuinely displayed, try Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations (Season 4 Episode 16). One hour of what a travel series should be like.
