Book Description

The Queen of Glam … Violet Eyes … Dame Elizabeth … Miz Liz. In a moving tribute to the big screen’s grande dame, the editors of Vanity Fair have published the magazine’s first e-book, a star-studded collection of classic stories from the likes of Dominick Dunne and George Hamilton—taken from the pages of Vanity Fair, Hollywood’s acknowledged arbiter of talent, glamour, and power. This e-book lifts the veil on the real Elizabeth Taylor—the child star and cinematic beauty, the seductress and consummate diva—through her more than 50 films and seven husbands, through her torrid affairs and countless illnesses, meltdowns, and triumphs. Here is a behind-the-scenes portrait of La Liz—in all her dazzling, madcap glory.

5.0 out of 5 stars Elizabeth Taylor February 26, 2012

I enjoyed reading about her life and how very different she truly was in many ways from us mortals and yet so very much the same. I found it amazing that she had never been in a bank. Truly could not remember a time she was not famous. Her committment to her AIDS work was the core of her later life. The interviews are the cream of the crop and enjoyable. If you loved her work and found you want to learn more about her this is a short course to a very complex women. Worth the read.

4.0 out of 5 stars See Both Sides of Elizabeth Taylor April 14, 2014

A nice balance of gossip and class. Typical of Vanity Fair - a sense of intimacy without being gauche. She was a unique woman who led an extraordinary existence, the stories show the person beyond the glamour.

I love to read about this extraordinary woman. She has aways been my beauty icon. She really had guts to do anything and everything she wanted. But if she was selfish, she still was loved and adored to those close to her.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's okay... March 17, 2014

This is technically my first Elizabeth Taylor book, though I read my other - Elizabeth by J. Randy Taraborrelli - first. Although written well, the book wasn't as exciting as I was hoping it would be. It was all right but I wanted something...meatier...and I ended up with something of a dud to be honest. I don't regret the purchase but if I could go back, I probably wouldn't get it.

It was just okay. Did not finish it though. I did not care for some of the interviews and comments about her. It just got boring.

Her life and loves were fascinating to me when I was a young girl. She was a product of the Hollywood Machine but knew how to use it. Admired her.
