Steve Zodiac's style reminds me of Ted Nugent!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Best of Vardis (Audio CD)
Vardis was a nwobhm band that played really fast rhythm and blues type music. Steve Zodiac's style reminds me of Ted Nugent's. Like Nugent, Zodiac was highly influenced by 50s and 60s bands like Chuck Berry. Both men took that kind of music one step further in heaviness. This guy Steve Zodiac, he's just as good as anybody at guitar. British Steel took 20 of his recorded songs from 1979 to 1983 and put them on this album here. I listen to Vardis a lot, and this album will always be a favorite of mine. It's the type of album that lifts one up.

When I first played this CD I could not decide if Vardis are Punk Rock or NWOBHM I have to say that this music is hard to define. Chuck Berry meets Led Zep is the best I can do. This band are genuine and deliver very raw, very British sounding heavy metal rock and roll at its best. Steve Zodiac's very original sounding guitar licks project him to guitar hero status. Very British. What a band.
