5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! Best vegan cookbook I've seen yet....
I absolutely love this cookbook - I've tried other vegan cookbooks and have returned them due to their not being a single recipe I would ever try, with ingredients that are extremely expensive and tough to find even in my local natural foods store. This one is a rare exception - every turn of the page revealed a recipe I can't wait to try...pasta bake with italian soy...

1.0 out of 5 stars There must be something better out there!
This is the first cookbook review I've ever done. I hope this helps someone who can't look at the book before purchasing.

As vegetarians (oftentimes vegan) for twenty years, we're always looking for exciting ways to round out our meal planning. This book is not the answer. In my opinion, it fails several different types of vegetarian-minded people, so find...

I absolutely love this cookbook - I've tried other vegan cookbooks and have returned them due to their not being a single recipe I would ever try, with ingredients that are extremely expensive and tough to find even in my local natural foods store. This one is a rare exception - every turn of the page revealed a recipe I can't wait to try...pasta bake with italian soy sausage, peanut dip, spinach salad with strawberries and spiced pecans, sticky pecan squares, and a "kids" section with recipes *I* want to make for myself!

Each recipe also comes with tips for substitutions and suggested accompaniments. The authors have taken great pains to produce recipes that are easy and quick to make to fit in with a busy lifestyle, and tested on their own kids for "acceptability". This cookbook just about makes all my other cookbooks obsolete! FINALLY a vegan cookbook I can rave about!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Staple in Your Cookbook Library, May 3, 2005
This review is from: 125 Best Vegan Recipes (Paperback)
I am a non-vegan, always on the lookout for cookbooks that have healthy recipes with pizazz. This one should be in your library-- lots of flavorful dishes in a broad range of styles for a broad range of tastes, not timid, full of character. You will use this book at least once a week.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful, user-friendly book, May 9, 2005

This review is from: 125 Best Vegan Recipes (Paperback)
As a mother who is always trying to add more fruits and vegetables to my children's diets, this book is a godsend. The ingredients easy to find in conventional supermarkets, preparer-friendly, fast, and delicious. The appetizers, soups, salads and wraps sections are especially appealing to families on the go. Unusually attractive, we've turned to the book for lunch and dinner ideas many times already. Check out the eggplant and olive dip, and the leek and potato soup!

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and Delicious Recipes, June 6, 2005
This review is from: 125 Best Vegan Recipes (Paperback)
Often vegan recipes are complicated and require hard-to-find ingredients. This cookbook is just the opposite: the best I have ever found for easy to prepare and tasty meals. Try the appetizers (I love the Roasted Garlic and White Bean Dip and the Eggplant and Olive Dip) and any of the casseroles (my family loves the Mexican Casserole). The Sticky Pecan Squares are wonderful for dessert. This is definitely a cookbook that you will use on a regular basis!

5.0 out of 5 stars A cookbook for everyone!, May 6, 2005
This review is from: 125 Best Vegan Recipes (Paperback)
This cookbook is great for vegans and non-vegans alike. I'm not a vegan, but have a couple of friends who are. In the past I've gotten stressed out about what to make when they come over for dinner but no more stress. Every recipe I've made so far has been delicious and not very time consuming to make. I also like the way the book is set up -- directions are clear and easy to follow, pan sizes, equipment needed are listed, tips are helpful.

I found the recipes very easy to follow. Not everyone in my family is vegan, but the recipes were so delicious, I could prepare them for the whole family! The kids were so happy - I even involved them in the preparation. The pictures are beautiful, and I found all the recommendations accurate. I will use this cookbook alot! Great ideas and beautiful presentation.

4.0 out of 5 stars Some tasty stuff, March 27, 2007
This review is from: 125 Best Vegan Recipes (Paperback)
The spinach lasagna is KILLER, and I make several of the appetizers on a regular basis for my omnivore friends and family. Desserts are so-so. Several recipes call for vegan cheese, which I am not fond of.

5.0 out of 5 stars This one is for everyone!, May 3, 2005
This review is from: 125 Best Vegan Recipes (Paperback)
I am not a vegan. I purchased this book because I have some friends who are vegan and I wanted to make them feel comfortable when I entertain them in my home. I found this book so easy to follow and the pictures made it very tempting to try the recipes for myself. Now that I am hooked, I will be buying this book to bring to these people as a gift. I thank the authors for a job very well done.

Finally a vegan cook book with recipes that taste better than eating the book itself. I've bought a lot and used a lot but this book is so simple and thoughtful with great recipes, easy to follow that culminate in a great meal. My whole family thanks you.

I love this book so much. I just received it a few weeks ago, and I am wondering how I ever made do without it! Every single recipe I have tried so far has been superb, and they have all proved to be hearty and satisfying. No bird food here.

The recipe for Lasagna with Spinach and Olives is so good that I had to make a second pan within days of the first because it got such rave reviews (by meat-eaters I might add). The Penne with Mushrooms, Sun-dried Tomatoes, and Artichokes has become another easy favorite. The Chocolate Pudding is to die for, it is so creamy and rich. The Luscious Apple Butter had my sister (who claims to hate apple butter) swooning. The Corn and Sweet Potato Chowder is delicious, filling and super fast to throw together. The Chunky Guacamole, Hummus with Roasted Red Peppers, Roasted Garlic and White Bean Dip were gone within the hour when I took them to a pot-luck. At least 5 people must have asked me for the recipes. The Rice Pudding with Raisins has become a new "comfort" food for when I want something sweet, creamy and hot. I will also admit that I can be found standing in front of the fridge sneaking bites of cold rice pudding all day long too!

I cannot wait to try all of the recipes. This book deserves 10 Stars!
