I Love Wang Chung Forever!,
This review is from: The Best of Wang Chung - 20th Century Masters: Millennium Collection (Audio CD)
I have always liked Wang Chung and Dance Hall Days was my very favourite song. I can't believe i've waited 20 years to actually buy their CD as i've missed out on all those classic tracks. I love Everybody Have Fun Tonight, Let's Go, Dance Hall Days and Praying to a New God. All the tracks are danceable and fun, which is what Wang Chung is all about, I think. This is a fantastic pop albumn which typifies 80's music. I love it!

This CD has all the best tracks from Wang Chung - just look at the track listing. Best of all, NO stupid re-dubs to waste your time. All the songs are the original 80's versions (except they are digital now). All the lyrics are what and where they ought to be, and all the beats make your feet MOVE ... everybody BETTER Wang Chung tonight! Love the 80's? Get your copy of this CD a.s.a.p. - you'll be glad you did!

Can You Tell Me What a Wang Chung Is?,
By Tim Brough "author and music buff" (Springfield, PA United States) - See all my reviews (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE)

In their evolution from arty new-romantic band to pop-song duo, Wang Chung recorded a string of cool singles and some memorable MTV videos. While starting life as a four-piece and the name Huang Chung, the core pair of vocalist/guitarist Jack Hues and bassist Nick Feldman remained intact through five albums.
The first album is left off this set (likely because of being on Arista records in the USA as opposed to Geffen, and either "Ti Na Na" or "Rising in The East" would have been nice to have), but when the band name took on a W and they released "Points of a Curve" in 1984, the hits began coming. The breakout was "Dance Hall Days," whose video featured the walking suitcase that hatched from a mirror ball. "Don't Be My Enemy" and the other charting single, "Don't Let Go," make their appearance on this collection. The song "Wait" caught the attention of William Freidken, who used it for his thriller, "To Live and Die In LA." He also approached the band for more music and the band returned with the full movie soundtrack. The title song barely missed the top 40 and began to show the band moving towards more conventional (even if atmospheric) pop. "Mosaic" jumped on board the pop train completely after "To Live And Die In LA." Now down to a duo of Hughes and Feldmen, "Mosaic" ditched new wave synths for dance-pop and scored the band's biggest hit with "Everybody Have Fun Tonight." Quite possibly one of the only times a band has reinvented their name as a verb, the insanely catchy song and its spazzy, stop motion video catapulted to number two and remains an unforgivable earworm. "Let's Go" also hit the Top 10 and "Hypnotize Me" made it as the theme to the Dennis Quaid/Martin Short comedy "Innerspace." However, "The Warmer Side of Cool" was so homogenized that it pretty much vanished on release. The punchy "Praying to a New God" and the OK "What's So Bad About Feeling Good" made it to this set, and the ballad "Big World" should have. There's one more track from the Wang Chung's one off session in '97, "Space Junk." That fills up this set, which is pretty much as much Wang Chunging as you probably need to have on a casual basis.

We was up in phase!,

for the fisrt time,i heard an amazing dance hall days song, during beating Vice City on my ps2.
and i was so excited about that-great catchy song, great game with descent 80's atmosphere !i think many people have same feelings about Vice City-it's not 'bout gameplay, but it's all about ATMOSPhERe!after that, I saw couple Wang Chung videos on vh1,and decided to purchase so called BEST OF(by the way-I'm fan of grunge rock, metalcore, emo etc.) !every song on this compilation deserves 5+ stars!Jack Hues is very talanted composer\singer\player(guitar,keyboards).His unique singing style-with such passion and emotioness, will make you HAPPY.and it's so cool, because today's "vocal rage competition" (for many pop and pop\rock singers, bands)makes everyone sick,I guess.you know,I can't go in that way, saying:ok,guys, vocals is pretty cool, guitars sounds nicely, bass is groovy and so on.. Wang Cung is especial band, maybee not so famous as Police or Spandau Ballet..I cant explain you that, you will understand me as soon as you listen to them. These guys were playing their amazing songs when i was 1-2 years old(i am almost 24)!and I'm glad- even more than after 20 years,I discovered Wang Chung for myself. My favourite songs are TO Live and Die in LA,Dont be my Enemy.Of course Dance Hall days,Wait,Everybody have fun tonight are my favourite as default. |
