"Wave music and Francois K champion the soulful sound!",
This review is from: Best Of Wave Vol. I (Audio CD)
Fonda Rae in da house, the house anthem the world refused to recognize. Hear it here as track 3, LIVING IN ECSTACY. Like the bucketheads said, "These sounds just fall into my miiiiiiiiind." This peak hour floor filler track rocked the roller skaters in Central Park, worked the baby powder at Coney Island's "Colony" and will work you till its time to stop, ya heard. Biggup MOOD II SWING on the wonderful production. Biggup Francois K for the FK edit. Track 10, DO YA LIKE IT, shines by Blue 6. The Best of Wave Music, a dedication to the preservation of soulful dance music.

Let me just preface this review by stating that I'm not a particular fan of remix albums or CDs where the songs are blended together. I like each track to be separate, so I can jump between my favorite tracks at will. That said, Francois K does a good job of re-mixing the various tracks on this CD. This compilation is perfect if you're hosting a party and want a pre-mixed CD. The songs are lively and very danceable. Also, the cost of the CD is a heck of a lot cheaper than hiring an professional DJ. My reason for getting the CD is for "Get Another Plan" by Abstract Truth. It was one of those rare cuts that you fall in love with instantly. The song is very danceable with not only a great beat, but with exceptional lyrics and vocals. Sometimes, when things aren't working out to your liking, don't you sometimes feel like you need another plan? There's an incredible irony here. At the time, this was the only version of their song available, so it was either buy this CD or scour the CD bins and hope to find a copy of the CD single. Obviously, I opted for the former. While it was not exactly in the format I wanted, I was not entirely disappointed. I was also pleasantly surprised that there were other tracks on the disc to my liking (e.g., "Do Ya Like It?" by Blue 6). Consequently, I'm not sorry I purchased the CD. On the other hand, I notice that an Abstract Truth CD with "Get Another Plan" is available again (with two versions of the song no less). As a result, it looks like I've got another purchase on the horizon. In the meantime, I'll make do with what I have. C'est la vie.

This review is from: Best Of Wave Vol. I (Audio CD)
This album contains some of the great wave releases, which if you already know wave music's catalogue contain deep but mellow grooves with fantastic vocals running over the top. If you have not already heard some of waves music this should be bought for two absolute classics Fonda Rae - Living In Ecstacy and Abstract Truth - Get another plan.Do yourself a favour and get the new york flavour.
