A remarkably good book at describing the actual steps. in detail - that need to be completed to build a truly profitable website! I'm surprised no one has been able to write a book like this before. An actual complete guide that steps through; what type of website to start, getting the right domain name, setting up the web server, easily building and managing the website and finally, a number of excellent promotional strategies - that are actually mostly free!!

I measure how much I like a book by how many tabs I place to mark the pages... and I have quite a few marked with this book. Even the "How to Make a $100,000 from Something You Already Have." Chapter isn't hype.. It's not easy to do, but it is a very interesting way to make money online.

Could have used more detail with regard to e-mail marketing.. but I think that is being picky. Very very, good book!! I Highly recommend it!!

I'm a professional web designer, yet I didn't have much skill in web marketing. This book has helped me to streamline my marketing efforts online, gaining successful listings with both Yahoo! and Google.
The book itself is well written and easy to use for novice and professionals alike.

If you are getting this book because you want to build your own website on the cheap, don't get too excited. It does have simple steps outlined, and it will get you almost there with a domain name and a host, but then you're left hanging when the author recommends the use of some very expensive software for making the actual web pages. If your expecting to have your website built by the time you finish this book, you'll be disappointed. It does have some fantastic information on optimizing your website for getting high search results...which would be great...If I had a website.

This is, by far, the best book available on how to build
and profit from building a Website. I have purchased
five copies personally, and distributed them to everyone
I know who is trying to build or grow their online business.

The clear and concise information on every aspect of starting
and marketing a website have been impossible for me to find
in other books or publications. Anyone interested in having
their own online business will benefit tremendously by following
every step of Nelson Bates' outstanding instruction.

I highly recommend this book to all those with a website, or
thinking about starting one. Thank you for this fabulous

A true gem among the many, many web business and internet marketing business books I have read! I am absolutely dumbfounded no one has been able to write a truly specific, step-by-step book like this before.

It contains exact instructions about where to host, how to build your website and how to promote it with results waaay faster than anything I've ever tried in the last 10 years.

Great Book!!

Nelson Bates' book titled Best Website, Simple Steps to Successful Websites, (130 some pages divided into eleven critical chapters about what really works) is concisely written in simple English and is a combination business and technical book based on his twelve years of experience in the internet trenches where he has been making money online since 1995.

He built BuySellWebsite.com into the Internet's most popular marketplace for buying and selling Website businesses and developed the Internet's longest running Website Appraisal system, which has also given him a unique insight into the financial side of the Internet at a grassroots level. He's walked his talk.

This is not a get rich quick or opportunity seeker book with overstated optimism about how you to can get rich overnight, but rather a practical, and bluntly honest overview of what really matters if you want to build a profitable internet business. Also, while it covers technical subjects, it is written for the average person and not programmers or geeks.

He clearly and succinctly highlights what you need to know to be successful without superficial or pedantic ivory tower nonsense. The book is down to earth "How-To" book which is a must have in your personal library for anyone who is serious about building a successful Website. In addition to great layout and typography, sporadically placed tips & notes are also visually featured for quick reference.

One of the most important parts of the book is his "Essential 9" where he enumerates the nine most important things you can do now to make your Website a profitable success.

Whether you're a "Fortune 500" company or a kitchen table startup, His book will serve you well saving you time, money and heartache. This action book is a must have, but will only be of value if you follow his advice. I would have liked more Dreamweaver examples, but that's about it.

This book was an easy read and provides some basic, but often overlooked, tips to building an online business. The book, for the most part, follows in chronological order and breaks down the process of building a business online. That being said I have to say that this book is not for people who have knowledge in web design/ development or people who have experience in ecommerce. It's true that the book helps you focus your attention to the important areas of online business but it greatly simplifies the process and doesn't go deep enough to make you truly successful online. Any person who has spend (even a little) time online doing some research in their niche and following web marketing blogs and forums can easily come up with the same material that is covered in this book.

One major thing in the book that screamed out at me was the author's suggestion to building a site using tables for your layout. A quick google search or asking a seasoned web developer or search engine marketer will instantly tell you that developing a website using tables will hurt you - especially in the long run. Table-less design has been the standard for at least the last few years. I also discourage the use of MS Frontpage/ Expression of which the author highly recommends. This program is absolutely horrible and I would encourage people to only use dreamweaver or to learn how to hand code your webpages using simple html and css.

Overall, I'm glad I didn't spend much money on this book. It did serve to help me focus my 'action plan' a bit but other than that I can't say it helped me much. This book is truly only useful to people who are new to online business and website development. The book is simply too general and basic - making it sound like you can make a lot of money online in a very short period of time with 'just doing the minimum'.

Being someone who has made a great deal of money online, I can tell you that this book oversimplifies every step to making money online - hence my 3 star rating.

This is the best "How-to" book I have seen on building and marketing a website business. The focus is on making design decisions that will help generate traffic to the website right from the start. Design is always secondary to the necessity to get the site built, marketed and bringing in revenue. The business person in me finds this very satisfying.

The level of detail in the book is amazing whether it's deciding what type of website to start, the best way to choose a domain name, keyword research and testing to lots of specific strategies on marketing and search engine optimization. I've been able to follow the book while creating my own site and getting it listed on Google and Yahoo. I encourage you to buy this book, follow the chapters exactly and create your own successful web business.

I really like this book. I was interested in having my own internet business, but didn't know where to start as far as creating a profitable website. I tried reading about the subject, but most of the books were so long and too technical for me as a beginner and only added to my confusion. Then I got a copy of Best Website: Simple Steps to Successful Websites and the lights really came on.

What's so great about this book is that it cuts through all the excess volumes of information and technical stuff that I probably will never need anyway and gets right down to the basic, step-by-step instructions necessary to create a website that works and makes money. The book has great sections on what kind of an internet business is the best to start, selecting and registering a domain name, where to host, how to build and run my website, how to optimize the site for the search engines, obtaining high-quality links and maximizing traffic, all information that has made an impossibly complex process something that I can now understand and manage mostly by myself without always having to pay someone else (means more profit for me).

As I go forward with my internet project, this book is going to be right in front of me as my roadmap and I know that it will save me so much time and, undoubtedly, money as well. In my opinion, Best Website: Simple Steps to Successful Websites is well worth the money. You can bet that if I lose my copy, I'll be buying another one real soon.

This is a great book for anyone intersted in starting their own online business. It takes you, step by step, through every detail from start to finish. I am using it as a reference guide as I work on starting my new internet based business. I am already listed in Google after just one day of using the techniques described in the book. I am no computer genius by any stretch of the imagination...but with this book I don't need to be. It is very simple to understand, follow, and implement the techniques described. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested or currently involved in internet marketing.
