4.0 out of 5 stars top line 80s disco
This was Eartha's comeback album, and even though it's a cracker it was at least 5 years too late for the marketplace. All the tracks on the original release (there's a couple of later bonus tracks on this release) were written by Morali and Belolo, the men behind Village People (ahem) and the Ritchie Family, and although the sound was souped-up disco it was still out...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not classic Eartha but still fun
I bought this album because of the many great titles. However, upon hearing it, wished I'd gotten her Purr-fect Greatest Hits instead, which are pure classics that are timeless.

On this album, Eartha sounds great, but competes too much with 80's synth-pop. Her original songs are worthy of worship, but these are only worthy of a campy flourish.

This was Eartha's comeback album, and even though it's a cracker it was at least 5 years too late for the marketplace. All the tracks on the original release (there's a couple of later bonus tracks on this release) were written by Morali and Belolo, the men behind Village People (ahem) and the Ritchie Family, and although the sound was souped-up disco it was still out of step with the mainstream of the early 80s, when disco was taboo. Still, ever-perceptive gay clubs jumped on it and Eartha found herself with new fans. A worthy purchase, not least for La Kitt's delicious vocals.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Puuuurrrrrrrrrrrrfect, Meow Man!, May 22, 2005
This review is from: Best Of: Where Is My Man (Audio CD)
What can I say about the beautiful & unique Miss Kitt? No one in the world can obtain such a voice set to classic NRG music. Eartha is on my top ten list of IMPORTANT people & things in my life. This CD is a MUST have for those who appriciate classic dance traxx. Eartha teamed up with Bronski Beat to create The wonderful CHA CHA HEELS trak. This trak/vocal was intended for the late DIVINE (Female Trouble) but to an untimely death, Miss Kitts vocal talents were used & to only surface a smash club hit! Earthas talents are X-TREME, RARE & ONE OF A KIND. There are no other cats out there who can top her. A BIG MEOW for Eartha, 5 Paws up ! Thanks, Schroeder (DJ WACK "O")

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Hi-NRG: Far Better than most of today's Club/Dance Music, July 5, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Best Of: Where Is My Man (Audio CD)
The Grand Lady of 20th Century music, Eartha Kitt released this set classy but sassy Hi-NRG in the late 1980's is far more superior than most the commercial trash that some people dare to call club/dance music. Every silible Eartha says is magnificent, seductive & a joy to listen to. The backing music could not possibly be better! I came across this album one day while wondering if Eartha Kitt had ever done a club/dance music album. I love Hi-NRG completely and this disc lives to my exepectations. My favourite tracks are "Where Is My Man?", "This Is My Life", "I Don't Care", "I Love Men", "Arabian Song", "Tonite", "Grand Vie", "Cha Cha Heels" & "Where Is My Man"(1994) which samples Culture Beat's #2 hit single "Mr. Vain". The definition of Hi-NRG is a fast variation of disco that evolved during the 80's. Driven by a fast drum machine and synthesizers, Hi-NRG is essentially a dance-oriented music with only slight hints of pop. I highly recommend this cd to Hi-NRG fans & to those who want to exprience what Club/Dance music is really is like.

This review is from: Best Of: Where Is My Man (Audio CD)
A fantastic collection of a disco diva. the most fabulous track is the 12 inch version of cha cha heels with the bronski beat included on this collection. it's worth buying just for that track but the others are all fabulous as well. go miss kitt!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential says all, September 16, 2011
This review is from: Best Of: Where Is My Man (Audio CD)
I remember her from Batman (Those are the true actors) as Cat Woman. The only Cat Woman for me. Then later in life heard that beautiful, scratchy voice singing. Took me weeks to nail it down as Ms. Eartha Kitt. As with any collection something is always amiss (Where is my man?). But love this collection. Can't keep my friends from trying to snag it from me.

Received the Eartha Kitt Case with a blank CD in it. What's worse is I returned it for a replacement and received another blank CD, only this time dirty with drink stains spilled all over it. I returned that one and just gave up. Would love to have the CD though. I see others have had similar experinces with this CD from Amazon.com. My advice is to buy this CD from another source.

5.0 out of 5 stars Authentic Diva Dance Music, September 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Best Of: Where Is My Man (Audio CD)
In an age of manufactured vocals and an overuse of the word "Diva" for whoever sells the most records, has the biggest ego and smallest outfit, it is refreshing to appreciate classic dance music from a true legend who was the epitome of strength, sensuality, and class. Eartha's lyrics are clever, humorous, and vampish throughout this entire album. This music is catchy, fun, and campy! "Tonite" and "La Grande Vie" are my favorites because the lyrics and Eartha's delivery in both songs constitute a true diva's anthem. Eartha Kitt was unique and an original. There will never be another who can bring her feline flavor to words and song. With the delivery of only two words or just that signature purr, you know it's Eartha! The two dance mixes of "Where is My Man" are a nice bonus. This album is a must have for dance music lovers who appreciate creative sexy vocals with personality woven through music that keeps you moving. Viva La Kitt!
