Cadillac Classy Rock, September 23, 2007
As an old rocker, I've been seaching for some new tunes with little satisfaction...that is until I hear a Willy DeVille cut on XM radio The Loft...What is that voice, that rythim, that awesome rock...Its been awhile since I've something gets my attention...sort of Bonnie Rait, Fleedwood Mac and Zydeco Flames meets Bruce Springsteen all in one. The Best of is a great collection with 15 groovey rock tunes.

Good but not his ultimate best, July 9, 2007
This compilation of the brilliant but underrated Mink DeVille contains some rare live tracks not found anywhere else, like This Must Be The Night, Savoir Faire, Cadillac Walk and Stand By Me. Savoir Faire is an energetic rocker, Hey Joe which appears here in studio and live versions is a sinister tale of desperation over a lovely lilting beat and trumpets whilst the live version of Cadillac Walk, another of his hits, is a brooding story song in a style that is a mix of southern boogie and new wave rock. Demasiado Corazon is a buoyantly festive song with a Spanish flavor and Bamboo Road an atmospheric and evocative ballad with magnificent guitar sounds, creating an effect not unlike that of the music of
Daniel Lanois. I place Willy (Mink) DeVille amongst the greats like Springsteen, Lou Reed, John Cale, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Tom Petty and Michael Gira. There is real soul in his always melodic, sometimes spectacular songs. For more comprehensive collections of his best work, I recommend
