5.0 out of 5 stars Are you ready for change?
I really enjoyed Ford's empowering message for motivating action!

I want to "make over" my whole life, including the need to lose weight so for Christmas I asked for Debbie's book along with Deborah Low's, "Quest for Peace, Love and a 24-Inch Waist" and have discovered that both authors support the same thought processes--very motivating and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Mostly motivational, with a few truly useful gems
Customer Video Review     Length:: 2:44 Mins
I'm always on the prowl for ways to improve my annual planning session--tools, tips and tricks as well as inspiring ideas and new ways of looking at trenchant problems. While this book boasts three outstanding tools for getting more out of your life (they're the ideas in chapters 9, 10 & 11), it falls down in the structure department. For my...

This review is from: The Best Year of Your Life: Dream It, Plan It, Live It (Hardcover)
I really enjoyed Ford's empowering message for motivating action!

I want to "make over" my whole life, including the need to lose weight so for Christmas I asked for Debbie's book along with Deborah Low's, "Quest for Peace, Love and a 24-Inch Waist" and have discovered that both authors support the same thought processes--very motivating and inspirational--answering the question, "how can I stay committed to my dreams and goals?", with practical, inspiring advice.

Since completing them both, I am able to see my life as a creative, ever-changing experience of which I am in complete control. If you need to make overall changes in your life, get Debbie's book but if you need to make peace with your body and lose weight, get Low's. If you can afford both, do it.

4.0 out of 5 stars NCZ's and self-discipline, June 22, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Best Year of Your Life: Dream It, Plan It, Live It (Hardcover)
I'm a self-help book junkie and most of them are just books to read and get what you can from them. Most of them don't actually outline what you need to DO and this one doesn't really either. However, when you get past the normal self-help info in this book (it is in this one too!) you can really glean some good things from it. I was particularly drawn to the NCZ idea (No Cookie Zones) and her line that "Self-discipline is the greatest gift you can give yourself." I love that idea and it really resonated with me. So, while this book does have a lot of the "stuff" that other self-help books have, it also has some really great advice that you can use in everyday life. It is a short easy read and Debbie makes it very enjoyable. Well worth the time and money.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Book for Both Men and Women, April 17, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Best Year of Your Life: Dream It, Plan It, Live It (Hardcover)
Before buying this book, I noticed that there were substantially more reviews submitted by women than men. I would like to note, however, that this book has excellent insights for both sexes and would make a great gift. Although it stands to reason that the basic principles should be universal, some self help books have a decidedly sexist slant. Anyway, I enjoyed this book immensely. The chapters were brief and interesting. After finishing the book, I was able to go back to the end of each chapter for the basic building blocks necessary to start the best year of my life. The steps aren't overwhelming or complicated, but they make good sense.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timely reading as a new year approaches, December 18, 2005
By
This review is from: The Best Year of Your Life: Dream It, Plan It, Live It (Hardcover)
Looking to change your ways? Looking for a succinct, encouraging, step by step guide? This book is for you. I could recognize myself in many of the examples. The author divides her book into three sections, dream it, plan it, and live it. I particularly liked the "No-Cookie Zones" chapter; how to recognize when we engage in debilitating behaviors; that when we do, there is no reward. She discusses how goals have to be specific, something different from dreams and ambitions. Ms. Ford emphasizes the need for structure and discipline in planning life changing goals. She also encourages her readers to seize moments in their days, and to live to inspire.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN INCREDIBLE JOURNEY, January 4, 2005
This review is from: The Best Year of Your Life: Dream It, Plan It, Live It (Hardcover)
I love this book! Take your dreams, your desires and take a journey to their completion. I have put a plan into action from reading Best Year. What is exciting is that Debbie teaches you how to find the feelings that you would have if your goal was met,and how to feel like that now. It is so much easier to reach a goal when you are enjoying the path. No more waiting. If you have failed to reach a goal in the past or just simply did not enjoy the journey, this is the book for you. Enjoy the journey! It is Incredible!

5.0 out of 5 stars a whole new approach to living your best life, December 28, 2004
This review is from: The Best Year of Your Life: Dream It, Plan It, Live It (Hardcover)
I got my hands on an advance copy of this book, and I read it in about 2 days. Literally every chapter offered some insight or exercise that allowed me to start approaching my life in a new way.. from uncovering my "someday I will..." fantasty to identifying the qualities I most want to develop within myself, to making a plan of action (what a concept!) to ensure that I get what I want.

I have a shelf full of "self help" books at home and in my office. This is one that will not be relegated to the shelf, rather I plan to keep it by my side, to get a fresh dose of its inspiration daily and to remind myself that THIS is the year I'm going all out for what I really want.

5.0 out of 5 stars How's your year going?, August 31, 2005
This review is from: The Best Year of Your Life: Dream It, Plan It, Live It (Hardcover)
"It's never too late" would be an appropriate cliché for The Best Year of Your Life. Although some cliché's are present such as, "you have to put your best foot forward", this book goes beyond cliché's to specific ways to begin your best year yet.
Broken down into three categories, author Debbie Ford gives personal examples, analogies, and asks questions to bring out your desired goals and reasonable ways to achieve them.
Her conversational writing style mixed with inspiring but thought provoking questions motivate you to focus and want to better your attitude and consequently, yourself.
Far from a self-serving manual, Ford encourages us to also be the best for those around us.
Like any good learning experience, it comes with assignments. These however, will only be graded by the difference it makes in your coming year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now I'm ready to do the work!, December 28, 2004

Mimi (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Best Year of Your Life: Dream It, Plan It, Live It (Hardcover)
This book promises to give a formula, a precise plan of action, and a practical guide for making this a year that surpasses all others. And this is exactly what it delivers. I've read a lot of books that offer great ideas, nice sounding theories and beautiful metaphors about the way life works, but this is a book that actually teaches the core fundamentals of life mastery. You cannot read even one page without seeing how to apply what you've just learned to your own life, right now. To me, this is the hallmark of an excellent book. Debbie Ford is obviously much more than a motivational speaker. She is a life coach, committed to supporting others in transforming their lives and manifesting the dreams. I for one am on board with her to make 2005 the very best year of my life!

5.0 out of 5 stars Is it really this simple?, December 28, 2004
By
This review is from: The Best Year of Your Life: Dream It, Plan It, Live It (Hardcover)
The title of this book immediately caught my attention, "The Best Year of Your Life". 'Didn't the best years of my life happen in my teens and twenties?' I thought. Intrigued, I began to read. What I discovered is that the best year or best years of my life are not behind me, they're stretching out into my future, beginning today!

The ideas, exercises and tools taught in this book are powerful yet quite simple. By following the formula of Dream It, Plan It, Live It, I found that I automatically began making new choices and behaving differently each day. As I'm learning to take consistent action and use a plan and structure, I find that the conditions of my life - including my health, relationships and work situation - are all changing for the better. I now truly believe that the best year of my life is already unfolding before my eyes! Thank you Debbie Ford for organizing this life-changing information into such an easy to understand and useful form.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm loving my life!, December 30, 2004
This review is from: The Best Year of Your Life: Dream It, Plan It, Live It (Hardcover)
Wow! I've never generated so much empowerment, freedom, and self-esteem so quickly! I'm following the 3-part plan laid out so beautifully in this book: Dream It, Plan It, Live It, and I am definitely on my way to creating the best year of my life. The crux of the book for me? Asking myself each day who I would have to be -- and what qualities I would have to express -- in order to reach my goals and feel great about myself. That question alone has the power to change lives.

Marry that insight with the book's strong focus on making a plan and taking action, and you have in your hands a clear and concise recipe for creating the best year of your life, over and over again.
