Jesse Colin Young has one of the best voices in all of 60's rock; however, he never reached his full potential, largely because of a lack of good material. The only cut on this compilation to make a commercial impact was "Get Together"; however, the best cut by far is the haunting "Darkness, Darkness", which by itself is worth the price of admission. The rest of the album is lightweight and forgettable. Buy it anyway, just for the good parts.

IF YOU LOOK DEEPLY INTO THIS ELECTRONIC MAZE THAT AMAZON HAS CONCOCTED TO HIDE THE YOUNGBLOODS TALENTS FROM THE WORLD, YOU WILL FIND A CD TITLED "EUPHORIA" WHICH HAS 25 OF THIS GREAT BAND'S SONGS. THE YOUNGBLOODS NEVER RECEIVED THE ACCLAIM DUE THEM IN THEIR TIME AND WILL NEVER MAKE IT INTO THE "HALL OF FAME" BUT THEY WERE BETTER AND LASTED LONGER THAN THE OTHER "JUG BAND" OF THAT ERA, THE LOVIN' SPOONFUL. SO GROW YOUR COFFEE JESSE COLIN YOUNG AND THANKS FOR SOME GREAT MUSIC.

Ok. Everybody's heard "Come baby now, lets get together, . . . ." But, no reviewer has said anything about "Darkness, Darkness". A haunting "fiddle" riff and strong rock pathos like no other. What passion. Jesse Colin Young has never sung anything like this and probably never will. This song is one of the top 25 rock & roll songs of all time.

This album stands as a classic piece of rock history. The chart topper"Get Together"has definitely made it's mark on the airwaves over the years, but the emotional subtleties of"Sunlight",it's dreamlike qualities, cut me all the way to the bone!.....Passion! This compilation is a "must hear"for music lovers of all generations.

I agree with what others have said about Jesse Colin Young and the Youngbloods - they should be in the hall of fame! Darkness, Darkness IS one of the best songs ever - passionate, haunting. I would also recommend the album "Song for Juli" and probably all of Jesse's other works. I hope he's living happily on his Ridgetop.

Certainly I agree with former reviews. "Get Together" along with Still's "For What It's Worth" have to be the two most symbolic 60s "movement" anthems of all time. I once heard Robert Plant do "Darkness Darkness" live and it reminded me of the potential JC Young had for writing good songs. It is a shame he couldn't have been more productive even on this collection. The rest of the CD is worse than filler. Oh yes, there is no way that this band even touched the talent of the Lovin Spoonful or that even a comparison of the two should be made!

If you enjoyed the music from the Youngbloods, you will love this compilation of some of there best stuff. When I listen to their music, I am transported back in time to a head-shop on the Strip with the aroma of sandalwood incense wafting up to satisfy my olfactory sense.

There are some great songs on this CD, and some not so great, but I really love the Youngbloods and they have a few classic rock and roll songs to their credit.
