We're a Real Estate Company the does property management and all our homes that we manage are required to have CO detectors by law. So, we have to put in one for each floor in a house - each house usually has 2. We've gone through close to 100 and only had 2 that were defective - not bad I guess. We didn't return the defectives because it's a pain. Price is about 40% lower than brick and mortar store.

There is nothing fancy about this inexpensive carbon monoxide detector but it works. It has screws for mounting, but I used the peel off picture type hangers. It has an extremely loud alarm and that's good. The LED display will let you know the level of air contamination. I recommend this unit but I also recommend using more than one especially if you have multiple floors.

Stay away from this device. It's a real terrible product. Very first time I turned it on, just for the sake of testing, I had it tested outdoors to be sure I'd get a ZERO reading, it actually got me a 5. The I reset it and it gives a 13. The I reset it again and it gives a 3. What is this? Then I put it next to a Kidde CO detector inside my home. Kidde reads ZERO and this damn device keeps reading all over the place. It can't make its mind.

I tried it because it was just 11 bucks. But I can't use this CO detector in my rentals because it keeps giving us wrong reading. Too much liability. Buy a Kidde or any other real brand. Don't get this one.

Because I'm paranoid, after having my daughter, even though we have a unit on the main floor, I wanted to put something upstairs by her room just to be doubly safe. This got good reviews, was reasonably priced, and ran on batteries (I wanted one where even if the power goes out, we'd have protection since power outages can be a big cause of things shorting out or operating incorrectly and possible producing CO2). We got it, popped the batteries in, and in under a minute, were ready to go. It tests that it's working fine, though thankfully we've never had to use it for real. Oh, and this has the digital display which is important to me. Ours typically read zero, so if anything chances, even if it doesn't meet the alarm threshold, I definitely want to know.

Cheaply made. Batteries wear out very very quickly. Battery retaining spring broke off. I would not buy this unit again

The cabon Monoxide detectors showed up on time and were very easy to install.
Good price for something that has a limited life cycle and we will have to replace in 5-7 years.
Thanks for the timely shipping as well.
Sincerely
Joe L in Overland Park, KS

I'm giving this two stars because it did seem to detect carbon monoxide. The unit I got runs on 3 AA batteries, not 9V.

I got a bit worried when I tried to follow the instructions for testing, and the appropriate lights did not seem to blink: a green light was supposed to flash every 30 seconds, but it did not do that. I could not figure out if I was just being dumb, or if the unit was somehow defective.

For about $10 more, I got a higher end unit that seems much more reliable and has a battery that's good for 10 years.

Mine would turn off the display and the light so you couldn't tell if it was dead or on powersave mode. I'd hit test, and it would BEEP loudly and give a random number between 1 and 80. I hope it's defective, because it's execution is rather poor otherwise. I'm going to buy a plug-in model next time so I don't have to worry about batteries. It would be better if it ran on a 9v instead of three AA's for durability. I have no faith that it's sensing when in possum mode.
