Book Description

June 1, 1998
"The Bestman, the Bride and the Wedding" is story. Wherever the truth is told within its pages, there is recitation of the Story. The remaining sections are simply part of a story. The account of this epic journey begins in Eden and continues throughout the history of the world as the Bride is escorted to the Great Wedding by the bestman.

The book will fit well on the reader's "theological allegory" shelf. The story is intended to be edifying, entertaining and thought-provoking. How well these intentions are met is for the reader to decide. The book will be troubling to some, foolishness for many, a stumbling-block for a few and comforting to a remnant. Therefore, while the reader is encouraged to enjoy the book, there is also a caution, for Peniel is where we live.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"The Bestman, the Bride and the Wedding" is at once an enjoyable story and a source of both teaching and comfort. For those who would never pick up a treatise on Christian dogma, it winsomely reinforces such precious doctrines as justification by faith alone, the means of grace and Church and Ministry. For those well-acquainted with the Bride of Christ, it provides new perspectives and understanding. And for fearful hearts in need of comfort, the story proclaims the faithfulness of Christ, the Bridegroom, throughout all generations. -- Pastor Tim Pauls Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and School Boise, Idaho

This review is from: The Bestman, the Bride and the Wedding (Paperback)
I generally don't like allegories, so was skeptical when I started this book. But after further reading, I was hooked. From the opening scene in the Garden of Eden to the final judgement, Pastor McCoy very graphically retells the history of the church catholic with a sense of urgency. This story reaches out and grabs the reader, driving home the importance of true doctrine.
I loaned the book to my Lutheran pastor, knowing he would be encouraged and reminded of the importance of his calling and he likewise was shaken by this story.
