Great Tub for the Price,

Bought this hottub to put in my apartment (new complex). I have a pretty bad back and this makes it feel great. I've had it for about a month now and love it. Like one other reviewer said, it's not a toy, it's a real hottub. My friends are amazed that I have this huge thing in my apartment.
It fits comfortably 2 people. Sure you can fit 4 in, but unlike most hottubs, your legs just lay out, so with two people you can move your legs in opposite directions, 4 people is a little tricky. Usually with 4 people in it everyone knees and it's fine. Still very comfortable. Water height, perfect! I can sit down on my butt and the water is basically past my chin. Sit on the knees and it's still at a fine height. No need to worry about going into a kiddy pool. You'd have to fill this half-way to even get a toddler to stand up in this without drowning. You can definitely feel the jets and they go 95% around the hottub (they stop where the filter is). They're not your typical hottub jets, it's another inflatable-like compartment with holes in it and the air blows through it, but it still feels nice and gets the water moving good. I paid about [...] + tax + shipping, all in all about [...] and well worth it. I use it almost every day and I'll be in it for hours. The only problems I have really had with it are I've broken several of the straps that hold the cover on it (inflatable cover with material cover to hold it down), but it's not that big of a deal. I guess I just had the cover inflated too much. Second Problem is the heater will show 102degrees, and I turn the filter on and it will jump right up to 104 and not heat, any lower than 102 degrees and it heats up fine. I have a thermometer in the water than averages 102degrees. To fill it up I bought a Fill Adapter that connects from my sink to a garden hose and just run that over and into the tub. Works beautifully. (Water coming from the sink = hot water and no wait for it to heat up) Be careful though because when I first filled it I had the water too hott and it was 112degrees (WAY TOO HOTT, I couldn't get my foot in) (Note: Ebay Fill Adapter is a cheap product, I replaced the cheap plastic adapter with a metal one from Lowes, 15/16" Female to 3/4" garden hose, and then the 15/16" male adapter to add on, ran me about $[...]) All in all it's a great tub for the money. I highly suggest it and the fun I have outweighs the two little problems! Had trouble finding filters, but the PBW5 from spa-daddy.com works fine! http://www.spa-daddy.com/spa-filters-search.php?filternumber=pbw5&add.x=47&add.y=2

We just purchased the Lay -z- Spa II and LOVE IT! It was easy to set up, easy to fill, and is easy to maintain.
However... we cannot find replacement filter cartridges anywhere, retail or on line unless we want to ship from UK. Calls to Customer Service do no good. The reps know they sell the cartridges, but don't know how, so offer to find out and call you back. If you're not by the phone when they call back, you get to go through the whole circus again because you probably won't get the same rep again, and the new rep will not know how to sell you the product either. If ANYONE knows where one can purchase replacement filter cartridges for the Lay-Z-Spa, I'd love to hear! Thanks.. Snoozie Q

I bought my Lay-z-spa in Sept. 2008. I wanted a basic hot tub that I could plug into a wall socket. I didn't want a bunch of jets, and I especially didn't want to pay an electrician to wire 220. This little tub has been perfect for me! I like the "jets", but they're noisy, so I don't use them much. The temperature stays pretty even, and the filter system works fairly well (I get some cloudiness). The directions say not to have it in the rain or use it when it's under 40 degrees F, but I live in the Northwest, so it's always in the rain, and this winter has been bad for temps under 40. The spa doesn't actually seem to mind, though I won't be surprised if it doesn't last as long as it would if I had it inside.
The only thing I don't like is that it automatically shuts off every 48 hours, so I have to remember to turn it back on every two days. If I forget, I'm back at square one on water temp, and it only heats 1 degree an hour, so it can take two days to heat back up.

Got it for 363 shipped a month ago ... easy to set up and use! Great value ... owned a real jacuzzi before we sold our house. We missed it so much we decided to get this one for our rental for less than 1/10 the price. What a deal! Blowers are cold water as mentioned but not a big deal. After reading other reviews, we put it in our sunroom. Hasn't been too cold yet here in DC and has stayed warm enough for long soaks. Not sure how you can complain about this product with the ease of set up and low cost. Better than expected!
Update: We enjoyed the spa for over 1 1/2 years before the heating element finally died. We ran the thing almost every day in our sunroom even when we got 54 inches of snow (broke the record here in DC) and it worked just fine. I was so impressed that we are buying another one. I'm crossing my fingers that we can the same great results with the second one.

My wife and I bought the Laz-Z-Spa over a year ago. The first time we plugged it in, we found out the pump was broke...heater worked, but would not circulate the water. We contacted makers who told us that they don't sell parts for the Spa...no one does. We called back several times, and finally talked to someone with a little snap to them. They agreed to send a new pump assymbly. Fine...no problem. We received it...works fine. Now, try to find any spare parts for the unit. They are serious when they say "no one makes them"...they don't! If this spa quits on you, you are on your own.
Oh, the price. Yes, it is quite inexpensive...but it is also quite small...difficult to get in and out of...it's not made well, at all. I would give this spa a major thumbs down to anyone even considering a spa like this. Save your money and put toward a decent spa.

Lay-Z-Spa Portable Spa
We used the spa everyday for two weeks straight after set up. And it was easy to set up! Decided to pour some buckets of hot water in so I wouldn't have to wait for the water to heat up by itself. I'm trying to convert to solar power instead of pluging into the house and I haven't been able (yet) to get the technical information I need from Bestway. But that is my only complaint. Did I mention I love my spa?!

Have the spa for 3 weeks, it has been working great so far. Yesterday I decided to use the spa after coming from work. When I touched the water with my hand to make sure the temperature was ok , I did feel some electricity. shut down the pump/heater, then no electricity in water. Turn on the heater, got same electricity back in the water. Then I decided to measure the voltage using a voltmeter. I found 48 Volts between the water and the ground !!! I will send back the pump block tomorrow to Bestway US and hopefully they will be fast to replace this defective and potentially hazardous pump/heater block (even wondering how they got an UL listing). Looking at some other reviews on the product and especially how slow their customer support tends to react, I'm starting to wonder if I made the right choice. Will update this review, when (hopefully) everything is working again.
update November 1st: got the replacement pump in 2 weeks time back in august, so far the replacement pump (a blue one that time) is working fine for 2 months. still enjoying the spa late october.

Very Good,

I needed a Spa for Health purposes. I needed something quickly so i bought the Lay-z Spa and also the Mspa Alpine B 100.
The lay spa plastic quality and pump quality is good for the price. You inflate it once and it doesnt move. Plastic is robust so that a child can do what he wants with it. I think it is really difficult to break. The pump is pretty quiet. For the bubble option it is almost like a hoover when it is running, but it is the same with all the portable Spa. I really appreciated the exhaust pipe that can accept a garden hose adaptor. So you can screw a garden hose to the lay z spa to empty it. It is espiacelly good when you live in an apartment. In fact, when i used the MSpa Alpine B100. The exhaust pipe adaptor is for swimming pool pipes only. In the Lay z Spa you sit on an inflated thing. it is really comfortable. Also the plastic in the lay z spa has a smooth touch, it is very appreciated as well. Now let s speak about the most important ! WEIGHT: I took my tape and started calculating the weight of the SPA. I calculated the inside diameter is aprox. 154cm (water cylinder). I have been able to use the SPA with 30cm Water height. So, that s a 558 Liters volume. At that point the whole thing (pump included) would weight 618 Kg. Then you have to add your own weight. Best would be 40 cm water height. In this case, that s 744 Liters of Water. The full thing would weight 800 Kg. Dont forget surface of the lay Z Spa is 1.86m2.It will help you to check if your floor can accept such a weight. Ask the architect of your house or i advise to get audit from an architect if you want to install it on a apartment floor or at the 1st floor of a house. By the way, it is a chance the pump is outside because it is easy to access and fix. If one is dead you just change it yourself. And the must that the little cap to block water from entering the pump. So for instance, let s imagine you have a problem with the pump, you just put the caps, you remove the pump and then you can carefully look into it. That is not the case when pump is integrated in the Spa. I had NO maintenance job with the bestway lay z spa. Actually, I have to say the websites of Mspa shows luxurious spas but when you look at the product quality the lay z spa is above mspa spa in terms of Quality. (plastic, pump, materials). So, if you want to resell it in the future, you know you buy something that will not depreciate. Little down side. I would have hoped bestway make also smaller Tubs for two people only because of the weight for sure.

We bought the Lay-Z-Spa for our family vacation home in Florida and when it first arrived we were impressed by how simple it was to connect up and get going. We used it for 2 weeks and would have given the product a 100% rating at that time!
We packed it up as per the instructions and stored the spa until we were next on vacation and again, the spa was a joy to set up... then the heater stopped working! As the pump/heater is a single integral unit we had to send it back [...]. A month later I have no idea when I'll see a repaired unit or a replacement despite numerous emails and calls to [...]. Bestway seem to have built their business producing kids paddling pools and they probably should have stayed in that market because when spending circa [...] I expect some sort of after sales service and they are unable to offer it! Avoid this product just in case you need a warranty repair or like another reviewer just want to locate replacement filters (which are a regular essential item).

Wow! Having read the reviews here, I was comfortable ordering the LayZSpa, and having had it for two weeks, I agree with the positives. It was easy to set up (did it alone) and to fill with a regular garden hose. We have it located on a glassed-in porch. Haven't used the heater much since it's more refreshing for me with the water in the 80s. I particularly wanted the spa for low-impact exercise, and it's been wonderful. I found a site online that describes the three B's (bleach, baking soda, and borax) for pools, so have been trying this for sanitation and balancing the PH, etc. (http://eswimmingpool.info/b/questions-and-answers/what-chemicals-do-i-start-with-for-my-new-pool-1249) Bought some test strips, and the water tests fine. I think this is a really good deal whether someone intends to use the spa for many years or for just a little while to see how a spa would work out before investing a couple of thousand or more on a more permanent one. Haven't missed a day using the spa (even if for only 20 minutes). It's cooling, relaxing, and great for exercise, especially when it's just too hot for me to be active any other way. As a woman of a certain age, this thing is a blessing! Again, it couldn't be easier to set up and use, and the spa seems quite durable.
