Money used to be the root of all evil--now it is the root of all survival. For 80 years war has been raging and has now become the only focus of the human race. Everybody either fights or works somewhere in the war machinery. Fighting isn’t just about staying alive anymore, it is about making money. Federations with open control over governments created "Bet On Soldier," a TV show where soldiers fight to entertain the masses and to generate profits.

This is where you come in. As Nolan Daneworth your past is a blur. Brief glimpses of fights and battles seem like remnants of past dreams. The dreams turn to nightmares when you discover your fiancee brutally murdered. The only links to the murder are the "Bet on Soldier" champions, The Boryenkas Brothers.

Desperate for revenge and the truth, you enroll in the "Bet on Soldier" tournament and head for an inevitable clash with these brutal B.O.S. champions. It’s not going to be easy--you can bet your life on it.

Features:

  • Hand-to-mouth gameplay: Players must kill and bet to earn enough money to survive. No money. No bullets. No armor. No chance.
  • Over 40 "Bet On Soldier" champions to defeat on your way to the top.
  • Engrossing multiplayer: up to 32 players spread over six warrior classes--each player with the ability to bet on each other!
  • Spectacular battles: this war is to entertain the masses--everything is in an epic scale.
  • Strong Story mode with a deep scenario and non-linear progress.
  • 20 missions in four distinctive environments: Alaska, Europe, Nevada, and Cuba.
  • Over 40 different weapons including a gas launcher, acid gun, five-barreled shotgun, hand-scythe, and rocket launcher.
  • Advanced Artificial Intelligence: Enemies fight in packs and protect each other with shields. Mercenaries help you out when under fire.
  • Two endings: choose your own destiny.
  • Uses the innovative KT graphics engine with over six years of R&D. Cutting-edge Novodex physics engine. Game optimized for Nvidia and AMD64 chipsets.

1.0 out of 5 stars Starforce... need I say more?, July 2, 2006
By

(REAL NAME)
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Bet On Soldier: Blood Sport (CD-ROM)
This game utilizes the Starforce copy protection system. It manifests itself onto your computer and slows it down/disables certain things. Even uninstalling the game doesn't take off Starforce... it stays on your system, hidden as a device driver. After I installed it (unknowingly and unwillingly), it removed some installation rights on Windows... and I'm the only one that uses my computer.

The game itself is fair. Once you get it to run (if at all once you get Starforce to let you play), the story is mildly interesting, but the gameplay is very repetitive. AI isn't that good... they just sort of stand there, waiting to get shot. Sounds are a little annoying. Graphics are very good, ignoring the human models who look like their skin was dipped in chrome.

If you're willing to take the risk of ruining your system with Starforce and are into repetitive shooters, this would be a good way to spend $10. If not, don't waist your money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Idea but Sloppily Executed, August 20, 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Bet On Soldier: Blood Sport (CD-ROM)
Firstly, I hate starforce protection. Even though it hardly ever gives me problems, I hate it on behalf of the people that can't get it to work right. But that doesn't affect the game itself, and good copy protection is almost non-existent even today.

The game itself is very interesting. The storyline is stock, but told decently well through cutscenes, but the world the story takes place in is really really interesting. It's like Unreal Tournament on crack...and on TV. The champion fights are fun and add some needed strategy to the game. The shooting mechanics are nice and feel appropriate to the game and the weapon loadouts add another dimension to the otherwise vanilla gameplay. The graphics are great, the voiceovers suck in a good funny way, and the game itself runs fine and is fun to play. The idea of having to repair/reload at a money cost mid-mission is very frantic and helps add urgency to the "war".

I recommend this game to all my shooter-loving friends, but in the end most people didn't enjoy this game for some reason. I liked it a lot, though, for the budget title that it is.

This is an incredible game with a great story line and amazing graphics. Game play is smooth and precise and has many different weapon combinations so you can play however you want. I have played this game at least five times through, and it never gets old.
