5.0 out of 5 stars Best over-the-counter shampoo fro Seborrheic Dermatitus

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not work
I bought the shampoo after reading positive feedbacks. Don't buy this product. I have been using this product for more than 4 months and let me tell you that it does not work at all. Don't waste your money like I did. I have two bottles left that I'm sending to the trash. Very upset

Originally, it was my pharmacist that recommended this shampoo to me. I tried it and it worked. It allowed me to stop using a prescribed steroid on my scalp. (The steroid would have ill side-effects on my scalp if used over an extended period of time.)

When the pharmacy later stopped carrying this, I went back to trying other shampoos, with similar ingredients. Nothing worked. Then, I found Beta Med on Amazon, and immediately placed an order.

I use it every other day, and my scalp shows no signs of scaling, or itchiness.

4.0 out of 5 stars good stuff, May 19, 2008

i have a terribly dry, flaky scalp that's really sensitive and after using just about every other shampoo that said would help, i came upon this and it's kept its promise. Before getting this shampoo, my scalp was always itchy and when i scratched, it would become red, bloody looking and flakes the size of my nails would be coming off. it was terrible but now, it finally cleared up. the only reason i gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is because I still have to see if it will continue working, especially now with the summer coming up.

This product was recommended by my dermatologist. I have been using for about 18 months and it has kept my scalp dermatitis well under control. The dermatologist recommended using two applications during the morning shower, leaving it on for several minutes each time. I found that using that method, I don't feel any scalp itch until late evening. It also has significantly reduced any visible signs of scalp flaking on shoulders and clothing. Highly recommended!

This product is comparable to Person & Covey's DHS Zinc Shampoo, but less expensive. That and this are the only products I know that have 2% Pyrithione Zinc. Commonly available Zinc medicated shampoos, such as Head and Shoulders, have just 1% Pyrithione Zinc. Both 2% products are hard to find because very few places sell either of them.

If 1% Zinc shampoos help you, but not enough, then this shampoo may help you more.
