5.0 out of 5 stars The shoe lovers "must have" book, March 14, 2009
This review is from: Beth Levine Shoes (Hardcover)
For anyone that loves shoes or boots, this book is an absolute necessity. While David Hamsley's photos of Beth Levine's original designs (no knock-offs here) are out of this world, the insight Helene Verin brings forth, quite frankly rewrites the 20th century history of shoes. The significance of Beth Levine is clear, not only to a number of presidential first ladies, but to a multitude of Hollywood stars, as echoed in the book via insights and tributes by Harold Kota, Sonja Bata and Manolo Blahnik. As a historical reference, design inspiration and simply a coffee table masterpiece, I am thrilled to include this book in my library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning design, June 22, 2009
This review is from: Beth Levine Shoes (Hardcover)
Helene Verin's composition elegantly tells the story of Beth Levine's innovative life and designs. Truly, I'm not that interested in shoes but the story of Beth's creative process reeled me in and I began to study each beautiful photograph in the book looking for the the infrastructure. Beth Levine was clearly brilliant and the book is a fascinating read that taught me more about design than I learned in college.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beth Levine Shoes by Helene Verin, May 25, 2009
This review is from: Beth Levine Shoes (Hardcover)
A delicious celebration of the awesome innovative design and fabrication skills and most appealing taste level of American shoe designer Beth Levine! Also a delicious celebration of the inspiring mentoring with which Beth Levine gifted equally engaging designer and author Helene Verin! The book Beth Levine Shoes enriches all the senses and illustrates how important it is for each of us to nurture and guide others as lovingly as Beth guided Helene-- and as Helene in turn lovingly nurtures and guides her mentees. It's a must-buy book for everyone you know!!
