4.0 out of 5 stars The Definitive Review of Clinton's Bungled Foreign Policy
As a member of the intelligence community for more than 40 years, I can tell you first-hand that this book is right on the mark. The author (without revealing confidential sources) has carefully set forth how the United States has been compromised by the Democrats' ethical lapse in dealing with the Communist Chinese.

3.0 out of 5 stars Factual, if somewhat dry, analysis
While Betrayal is not the most exciting political book that has been written, it is still worth reading. Gertz backs up his accusations with solid documentation and expert testimony. This is a book for any concerned citizen, regardless of his political persuasion.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Definitive Review of Clinton's Bungled Foreign Policy, May 31, 1999
By A Customer
As a member of the intelligence community for more than 40 years, I can tell you first-hand that this book is right on the mark. The author (without revealing confidential sources) has carefully set forth how the United States has been compromised by the Democrats' ethical lapse in dealing with the Communist Chinese.
If there is a shortcoming in this work, it may be that the author fails to delve into how President Clinton's inexperience in foreign affairs has gone unchecked and put our nation's security at risk when there are plenty of savvy Democrats who could have stepped in to prevent it, on many occasions.
My personal conclusion is that the Clinton presidency has so damaged his political party that capable people are reluctant to intercede for him out of fear of being too closely identified with his "legacy." You'll have to read Gertz' book to draw your own conclusions. Suffice it to be said that this book contains plenty of detail and supporting facts. We liberals may bristle at it frankness, but that's no reason to attack the work--it's a real bombshell!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Impeached President's Worst Crimes, December 10, 1999

(REAL NAME)
Discovering seminal uses for a cigar with a twenty-something intern was unquestionably Bill Clinton's most famous and salacious scandal, but when all is said and done, it will probably prove to be less pernicious than the events chronicled in Bill Gertz's real life horror story. In a nutshell, Clinton gave away the store. EVERY U.S. military secret was handed over to China. Of course, this nation of unparalleled human rights atrocities did engage in several illegal forms of spying, but had Clinton and his myrmidons not chosen to ignore the blatantly obvious, Bejing would have been far less successful. In stead Clinton's biggest concern was making sure that China's crime did not threaten Most Favorite Nation status for the world's most dangerous rogue. While the other foreign policy lapses covered pale compared to China's pandemic infiltration of our military know-how, Gertz highlights several other deleterious activities. From the Pentagon's covering up a Russian spy ship lazing an American pilot to North Korea's massive starvation of its citizens, the book shows many Clinton foreign policy failures, and all the spin in the White House can't change the facts.
This book has filled me with a newly rekindled respect for the wisdom and foresight of our Founding Fathers. Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and the rest of those brilliant patriots created an impervious form of government when they gave birth to the United States of America. Any government that can survive the unbridled corruption of Bill Clinton and his janissaries simply cannot be overthrown. The only issue that worries me is that as of this writing 13 more Clinton-stained months remain.
Still, if America survives, historians will forever look back and wonder how the nation perdured throughout such rampant rejection of the rules and principles that guided us for 200+ years, (and they'll also ponder why we allowed it.) The answer will ultimately lead back to the heroic sacrifices of those who gave us the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution--two documents betrayed repeatedly by Clinton's twisted view of world affairs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Scary., July 31, 1999
By A Customer
Years ago I read a novel called "The Red President" about a Soviet agent who manages to become President. That seemed far-fetched then. However, now I'm not so sure. I'm just not sure whether The Manchurian Candidate in the White House works for Russia or China, certainly not for the American people. Millions are given by this Administration to rebuild Russia. The money goes to create new missiles aimed at us. The Clinton administration ignores China stealing our secrets and peddling them to terrorist nations around the world. The administration discredits our own intelligence agencies to keep China happy. The list goes on and on. Like many other books critical of this administration, it has been ignored by most organs of the liberal media. It has become a best seller nonetheless. During the impeachment, I heard many interviewed that supported this President. Most seemed rather uneducated and really had no idea what was going on but knew that they loved Bill Clinton. Some thought that he was a liar and corrupt but wanted him to stay in office anyway. The fact that this book and others like High Crimes and Misdemeanors have become best sellers, despite being ignored by the New York Times, the Today Show, etc., is a clear indication that those critical of this corrupt and loathesome administration are the ones that are out there buying the books and reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars A must read book, Gertz is an excellent journalist !, December 22, 1999
By A Customer
A must read it takes the hard facts and presents them with no sugar coating. Often these facts are ignored by the Whitehouse press corp for fear of loosing their access to the whitehouse.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just two questions, January 3, 2000
By
noumenon (Spirit Lake, Idaho) - See all my reviews
After reading this book, the only two relevant questions remaining for the Clintons and their minders should be:
Cigarrette?
Blindfold?
Those who voted, cheered, and applauded this pack of traitors into office share a portion of the complicity for the betrayal of our nation.

5.0 out of 5 stars WAKE UP, AMERICA!, December 6, 1999
This book is MUST read, by everybody. It should be taught in schools with emphasis on how to avoid in future. Bill Gertz gives you a cold, hard look AT THE FACTS! It is a difficult book to read because it's so chilling! The influence of another - in this case mainland and dare I say it Communist China -nation to manuever the US to its (China's) wants and needs - nuclear power is most worrisome. The United States has indeed been Betrayed.! What's most disconcerting is it's our OWN Administration that's perpetrated the Betrayal! If you want the FACTS, then this is THE book. BUT, read it sitting down, because you'll probably become weak in the knees after the first few pages. Just where is the TV media (other than Bill Gertz) on this one?

5.0 out of 5 stars An airtight case for treason, June 3, 1999
By A Customer
Liar, blackmailer, rapist--and now traitor. If there's an outrage Bill Clinton hasn't committed, it's one he just hasn't thought of yet. No wonder Clinton apologists hate and fear this book: it exposes, in meticulous, irrefutable detail, their hero's active complicity in the sale and theft of American nuclear weapons secrets, "dual-use" computer technology, and state-of-the-art military hardware to Beijing and Moscow, which increasingly threaten us directly and continue to deliver the goods and know-how to places like Iran, North Korea, and Pakistan. Gertz also documents the criminal roles of Albright's State Department and Reno's Justice Department in promoting the Administration's determined efforts to arm our most dangerous enemies with our most sophiticated weaponry, gut our own military, and keep the terrifying truth about all of it from Congress and the American people. Along with Year of the Rat, this book is must reading for every American and every member of Congress. I'd give it TEN stars if that were possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chinese threat, October 5, 2002
By A Customer
This book makes readers think long and hard about the very real Chinese military and economic threat to America and freedom around the world. I believe the threat is much, much greater than that posed by the little rogue states like North Korea and Cuba (although they are sinister enough). China has a powerful - and still growing - economy, the largest population in the world and, perhaps most dangerously, extremely ethno-nationalistic (and well-organized) overseas communities around the world.
Never mind the friendly smiles presented to visiting U.S. businessmen and politicians. China is going to be our long-term enemy, and we had better be ready to deal with it

5.0 out of 5 stars The Manchurian Candidate For the 1990s, October 15, 1999
Well written and documented, despite what some Clinton-Loverswillingly blind to the truth would have you think. Gertz's book tellsthe sad story of a nation whose future is in peril in the interests of one man: William Jefferson Clinton. A must-read for any concerned citizen.

5.0 out of 5 stars We have been betrayed!, August 13, 2000
Let's tell the truth about our security under the Clinton administration. It has been compromised and this president has sold out this country in the name of campaign cash, in the name of contempt for the armed forces of the United States, and the pretense of convincing the American people that we are living in an era of increasing global peace when the facts clearly distinguish otherwise. We say that we want our politicians to tell us the truth. Well Bill Gertz, though no politician, has done more than make assertions, he has proven it. Using documented evidence from our own intelligence community, including the testimony of those who have risked much to expose this feckless leader's deceitful bongles, he demonstrates just how the Clinton White House has, and continues to sell out this country's national security to advance its own political agenda.
Gertz shows that the legacy of the Clinton years has been to cover up certain unpleasant facts about his foreign policy fiascos and to appease enemies who are determined to bring down our way of life. From Clinton's dealings with Russia, that poured hundreds of millions of US taxpayers' money into their so-called disarmament programs, to his compromises with the communists in Beijing, to the bombing of Iraq, we have been betrayed.
This book should cause all Americans to ask some serious questions that some of us don't want to face. Why has this administration refused to build an anti-ballistic missile defense shield for our country? Why, in fact, did Clinton's white house help to destroy what remained of President Reagan's famed Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI)? Why has this administration continued to compromise our secrets with China, allowing them to develop nuclear technology that they are now aiming at American cities? Why are we now in a growing situation with China that could lead to them becoming our main enemy in this century? And it's all thanks to William Jefferson Clinton. These appeasements are a violation of his oath to defend us from our enemies, and we need to have the guts to call them by their proper name. Bill Clinton has assaulted this country by his treasonous betrayal of our national security, and it's time we woke up to it.
Gertz deserves high praise for this work, and he's not just punching rhetoric, he's got the paper trail and the testimony to prove it.
