5.0 out of 5 stars Top Marks for Fiona McIntosh, December 30, 2007
By
This review is from: Betrayal: Book 1 Trinity Trilogy (Paperback)
I am writing this because of the two very negative reviews. Betrayal was my first book by Fiona McIntosh. Couldn't wait to read the next two books in the Trinity - Loved ALL three - In fact have read them twice.

I have read all her books and am waiting with much impatience to receive my copy of "Goddess" which was published here in Australia in December 2007.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Betrayal: Book 1 Trinity Trilogy (Paperback)
when i saw this book, and saw all the good reviews it had recieved from authors like sara douglass and robin hobb, i was keen to read it. but after the first few pages, i lost interest. i only just managed to make myself finish it. when i did, i was pretty much prepared to throw a party.
first of all, the character development was paper-thin. the characters are like this when the start, and by the end of the book, they're still the same. not much going on there. i also found that i hated all the characters with ease, which doesn't happen all that often. particularly alyssa. i don't know why, i just do.
also (this includes information discovered from later books) the main characters also happen to be gods and half gods! gosh, that is so lame! and the trilogy is called the trinity trilogy. when you actually discover who the trinity are, and what they have to do in their role as the trinity, you get really disappointed. all they do is wave a few stones in the air, and suddenly their purpose as the trinity is fulfilled.
nothing in this book appealed to me. nothing. don't waste your money on this book. it's got paper-thin character development, little action, and too much rape. romance is great if the author can do it properly and doesn't make it a big part of the book, but the way fiona mcintosh has done it is just...let's just say this. she make graphic descriptions about the way alyssa and then her daughter, whatever her name is (i can't remember, it wasn't a great series anyway) gets raped, but there's nothing on Tor and Lyssa's romance. that's just...sad.
would i recommend it? no way. maybe she's got some good books out there, but betrayl and the rest of the trinity trilogy wouldn't be them.
