5.0 out of 5 stars BACK COVER REVIEW, February 24, 2007

This review is from: Betrayal (Paperback)
Allison Stephens assumed that great soul-shattering passion had passed her by. After all, she was in her thirties and the realization of her dreams and desires no longer seemed possible. So she settled for the consoling comforts of her work and her friends. Out of the blue, she met David Higson and thought she's found happiness with the man she'd been searching for all her life.

Instead she found herself tangled in a net of deceit, betrayal and passion so powerful that it threatened...her very life.

4.0 out of 5 stars This book held my interest, June 25, 2002
By A Customer
I particularly enjoyed the main character, a single woman in her 30-somethings who has had negative experiences with men and who holds herself in somewhat low esteem romantically as a result. Here is a character I could relate to; independent, avoiding relationships, yet intelligent and sensitive, and excels in her chosen profession. She accidentally meets a man she is drawn to primarily because he seems drawn to her, and seems to embody all the important characteristics one would hope for in a relationship; but soon there are subtle hints that all is not well. As he gradually withdraws through the months of their relationship, she is at a loss to know what drives him to despair and negativity. Therein is the crux of the story; and she eventually learns the real truth about his estranged family and in particular his half-brother - but that is a complete other story in itself! This is a story which captures the reader's interest early-on and maintains it through a gradual build-up of plot turns.
