Book Description

A cougar and her lover fray at the seams. The perfect man, the perfect house, the perfect relationship, all rip apart when Andy cheats on Leanne. Now their nirvana is one drama after the next as they face the threat of STD's, betrayal, and revenge.

If he was normal reconciliation would be as easy as couple's therapy, but Andy isn't normal. He's complicated, vulnerable, and forces Lee to adopt kid gloves even though her heart is shattered and her anger unprecedented. It takes extreme measures for her to forgive him. Faced with losing him brings home just how much he means to her.

Damaged men end up with damaged women, every alpha needs an omega, and sometimes only unconditional love can reforge severed bonds.

Chick-lit for cougars has never been so fraught with trip wires.

Editorial Reviews

Review

This is not your typical love story; Poppet takes hold of your emotions and yanks you in from the opening chapter, right down to the very last word. I was instantly hooked into the complicated world of Leanne and André. Poppet covers issues that some authors shy away from and she deals with them beautifully and eloquently. I could literally feel the emotion pouring out of the pages. ~ bestselling romance author Samantha Towle

2.0 out of 5 stars DID I READ THE SAME BOOK???? April 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
How can anyone call this LOVE or ROMANCE? This is a story of the sick caring for the sick. Women all ways want to take care of everyone but themselves. LeAnn is the SICK person in this book and need therapy more than Andre. Andre is sick in the head no doubt, however he is a manipulator,an a drug user and uses his sickness as a cutter as a tool. I would not care if he cuts his arm off. LOVE is not supposed to hurt. Even though it does sometimes, you must love yourself FIRST. Be smart Ladies. Be smart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping May 31, 2012

This is the third book I have read by Poppet. I read Seithe and Zauran a few months ago and loved their stories. This book grabbed me from the first scene when Lee comes home after being away for three months. I loved how she handled the situation even though it was tough, but she is tough. Lee is in love with a tortured soul and eventually realizes what she has to do to save him and herself. Thanks to the author for a raw and emotional love story and for introducing me to the music of Douglas Bean.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent! A must read! May 13, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I've just finished reading this book and - wow! I loved it!

It's raw. Parts of this story are shocking but at the same time so very compelling.

I don't want to put spoilers here so I'll just sat that at times I found myself banging my head against my hand in frustration at Leanne's reactions, but Poppet quickly follows up to give such insight into Leanne's thoughts, motives, and reasoning, that my initial frustration quickly dissipated and I actually found myself empathising with her - that shows just how cleverly this book has been written.

It was fast paced and I couldn't read quickly enough to find out what was going to happen next, yet I really didn't want it to end!

This is a must read!

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this author... February 19, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It's like she is speaking directly to ;me. I had a relationship like this with a punk rock musician, and it really hits me in the gut, and I love that she throws in some very sardonic humor to lighten it up. This is one of my favorite books and one of my favorite authors of all time, and I've read, I dare say, close to a million books in my 45 yrs. However, I have a problem with Lee's condescension towards any woman who dares not to be anorexic. That made me sort dislike a character whom I otherwise idolized. I don't feel that the character was improved by that at all. That having been said, otherwise, AWESOME. I'm going to see what else Poppet has written pronto. And you should too,,if you like the offbeat and raw style of writing. So dark and eloquent. I'm gushing', so I'll go now.

3.0 out of 5 stars Was I blind? September 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have just read some of the other reviews for this novel and concede maybe I missed something. I found it fascinating with two very fascinating characters, and certainly I feel it is important to understand how the past affects our lives but the plot is thin. Poppet is a good writer so there is some glue keeping this together but I found it hard to connect with her characters, and not because of the subject matter. Cutting, unprotected sex is part of the self destruction process and I feel for people who hurt so much they need to hurt even more, and to be perfectly honest I feel we can all relate to this in some way. However the main protagonists do not get sympathy from me, I don't find them likeable enough, and I don't like that she has the affair and then the very neat ending so for me the best I can do is a 3 star rating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Home Run for Poppet!! March 17, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This book delves into the complicated and dysfunctional relationship of a couple in love. This story is not a fairy tale,it is the stone cold truth of how relationships are not always roses and chocolate's and how it takes real work and sacrifice(mostly of ones pride) to maintain it.I loved this story because I was able to experience every emotion along with Lee,her hurt at discovering her life was not what she thought it was,her anger at being betrayed by her soulmate and her desperation to hold onto her best friend and love of her life.Anyone who has been in a long term relationship can relate to her. This book is not only very well written it resonates within my heart and truly makes me FEEL the story page by page.Poppet has a way of pulling you into her books making you feel like Alice Through The Looking Glass. So that inevitably it doesn't seem like a story at all,but real experiences you share with the characters.Once again I bow to the literary genius that is Poppet!!

This book is readable. The story is somewhat interesting, but I feel like it goes on for longer than it needs to.
