His mate killed in a horrific explosion, ex-Enforcer Damien Masterson now lives as a rogue werewolf. Grief stricken and filled with rage, what depths will he sink to in his search for revenge? And who will be caught in the crossfire? Will it be Eve, a Fae just entering the Awakening stage? Or Rafe McRae, part empath and part wolf? It’s been said that a rogue Enforcer is too dangerous to be allowed to roam. A suspense driven story of love, betrayal and revenge, this latest addition to the Law of the Lycans series is the sequel to Bonded.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrilling March 16, 2013

Format:Kindle Edition
Everybook in this Lycan series is a winner.Read them in timeline order if you can because characters and events get carried over and mentioned in some of the other books. Read first Bonded, Betrayed, The Mating, The Keeping, the Finding then read Betrayed again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Betrayed: Days of the Rogue (Charles) March 27, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is Book 2 in a series of 5 full length, dramatic, sexy, and addictive paranormal romantic suspense stories, revolving around the lives of contemporary Lycans. There's a lot of heart ache, with enough humor so you don't want to kill yourself. They could be stand alones, but have connecting characters and a continuing story line, and should be read from the beginning. I do wish authors would number their books, and my thanks to reviewer Carole for putting them in order.
Eve is an artist, working in a bustling city. She is also a Fae, and when her "Gift" kicks in, she is completely over-whelmed. She leaves the city and rents a cabin in the woods, hoping the solitude will help her sort out her new-found abilities.
Rafe is a Werewolf and owns the cabin in the woods. He's not happy about renting, but needs the income to renovate his property. Eve is unaware that Lycans exist, and he needs to make sure she never finds out. To make things worse, a rogue wolf has invaded his territory!
I'm going to be vague about this next part, because I don't want to give anything away, but for those of you who have read the first two books, the person we have all worried about, gets dealt with later on in the series. Whew!
Some of the other books got a little caught up in too much detail, and I skimmed over parts of them. Eg: If you get stuck in a cave, get in, get out, get on with the story. And I have a complaint about The Keeping. There was absolutely no need to kill off a certain character. It was not intricate to the plot, and all it did was make me feel bad. Please, Nicky, do not do that again.
I chose to write a review about Betrayed because it is fast paced, with a great blend of action, dialogue, and romance. I'm so wrapped up with these damned wolves, I can't wait for the next book to come out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another good one March 27, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I dislike having to write the 20 word limit on a great book. I'd rather let the purchaser know I loved it and this author is a must read.

I give Nicky Charles 5 stars for her writing and storytelling. They are compelling and hard to put down. I've read them all. You won't be disappointed.

I give AMAZON 10 thumbs down for making us pay for FREE books. Isn't this an infringement on the copyright laws? Unless AMAZON is taking our money and donating it to animal shelters as Nicky Charles has requested then they are stealing money that rightfully belongs to the author.

Make sure you don't pay for anyone of Nicky Charles' books. They are free on smashwords. Download them there.

5.0 out of 5 stars This series is well worth a read!!! March 17, 2013

Betrayed is the latest book by Nicky Charles. There are 5 books so far in the series, each one stands alone as a great book. I had downloaded this book for free on so I read it within days of it coming out. My only complaint is that the books aren't coming out fast enough!!! But writing great books takes time and I am willing to wait for the next installment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rafe and Eve March 31, 2013

I absolutely loved the second book in this series. I cannot wait to read the rest. It really is a pity that Damian will not be getting his own story. This author really does a great job with theses stories.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Continuation April 9, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was a bit slow in the beginning, maybe the first two chapters. After that it was so good I couldn't stop reading. This is the second book in the series that I have read, Bonded being the first. I think this was much better than Bonded. It kept my attention and there was a good mix of romance and action. I also really enjoyed that we were able to see Brandi and Reno and how they played out from the last book. This book was so good, that at one point I thought I knew what was going on, but in actuality it wasn't what I thought. So there is a bit of mystery that played out really well and not predictable.

I was also fun to see the interaction between Damien and Rafe, especially when Rafe realized that Damien might have taken an interest in Eve. The only thing I would have liked more is how Rafe and Eve's relationship progressed at the end because it happened in one swoop.

I hope the series continue to get better and better and I can't wait to read The Mating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Law of the Lycans April 8, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I stumbled upon this author Never heard of her but WOW!!!! What a great author the characters are rich and full bodied and the story lines in all of the Law of the Lycans series is fantastic!! I couldn't believe they were FREE! ALERT the hostile characters are so rich that the villians make me so mad that I have to get up and walk away before I start yelling at them! LOL They are intense!! All of the individuals in the books want to make you either laugh, cry or scream (bad, bad ones)

5.0 out of 5 stars Kept me guessing! April 3, 2013
By Sylver
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Okay, let me start by saying this book, in fact the whole series, was free. The author only asks that the reader consider making a donation to their local animal shelter or food bank, which is pretty awesome when you think about it. And now for the book...

It's a little hard to figure out where to read which book in the series. Having previously read 'Bonded,' which is a prequel for the series and ended with a big question mark hanging over the side character of Damien, I decided to read this one next, even though technically I think it's supposed to come after the second book, 'The Keeping.' This turned out to be a wise choice, I think. There wasn't a bunch of spoilery-stuff regarding book one and two, mostly this one stands alone. While it does continue Damien's story, it's not just a book about him but a story about Eve and Rafe as well. Though Damien does figure prominently into the tale.

I enjoyed this book very much! It seemed to be more on the action side than the previous one, 'Bonded.' The characters were well-formed and engaging. There was also a lot of mystery and misdirection going on here that kept me guessing until the end. I'm greatly enjoying this series and hope that there will be more in future books about Damien, a rather complex individual.
