About the Author

George Packer is a staff writer for The New Yorker and the author of five books, including Blood of the Liberals (FSG, 2000), winner of the 2001 Robert F. Kennedy Award, and, most recently, The Assassins Gate (FSG, 2005), which was a New York Times Best Book of the Year. He is also the editor of the anthology The Fight is for Democracy and was a 2001-02 Guggenheim Fellow. His reporting has won four Overseas Press Club awards. He lives in Brooklyn. Betrayed is his first play.
