More About the Author

David Givens is a unique author able to transcend the normal crudeness associated with 'street lit' and combine it with the suspense of popular thriller novels with the added danger element found in the action genre. To call him a hybrid is a compliment. His stories weave profound tales of flawed people struggling to overcome their inner demons while using a sprawling Midwestern urban landscape as their backdrop.

Mr. Givens has crafted a masterpiece in his Betrayed Trilogy. His first novel, Betrayed, introduces you to a world filled with unsavory characters, misunderstood villains and a plot twist that will leave you scratching your head. The language is crude at times, but so are the situations. Mr. Givens shows maturity in his second novel, Betrayed Once Again. The story is fast paced and full of suspense. The crudeness erodes and a wonderful prose shines through. You will come away from the experience feeling that you connected with the characters and can't wait to see what happens next.

In the concluding novel, Betrayed No More, Mr. Givens takes his writing skills to another level. From the opening paragraph the story draws you in and won't let you go until its satisfying conclusion. Along the way you are treated to an action thriller that keeps you on edge and turning the pages. It is truly a fitting end to the trilogy.

David Givens is presently working on several different novels that cover a broad spectrum of genres. He also writes articles on suite101.com. In the near future he hopes to finish a movie script. He resides in Iowa with his beautiful wife and six wonderful children.

4.0 out of 5 stars Betrayed, September 15, 2008
This review is from: Betrayed (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
Darrell Jenkins known as "The Sandman" is doing big things in Waterloo, Iowa. With the help of his crew GMC getting money in the streets is his way of life. Taking the Midwest by storm Darell is determined to take over every aspect of the streets.

Very proud of what he has accomplished, there is one thing that is missing from his life and that is the love and trust of a good woman. Being hurt in the past by his baby momma; Darrell has trust issues with women, until he sees a beautiful bombshell Sherrice Valdez during a brief encounter. Both feel the sparks flying and there heartbeats going pitter patter. Darrell knew that she was the one, or is she?

Things spew out of control in the streets and there begins a World War III. With so much that's going on, who can Darell really trust? Take a ride on the wild side with "The GMC Crew" and find out who is really BETRAYED.

Betrayed blew my mind. This book really had me going, especially the ending I was in total shock. There was plenty of drama, suspense, blood shed, deceit that you can imagine. As the saying goes "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer".

4.0 out of 5 stars A new Triple Crown Banger!!!, August 18, 2008
This review is from: Betrayed (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
David Givens makes a ground breaking explosive debut with, Betrayed.

He takes you to the streets of Waterloo, Iowa where you meet Darrell "Sandman" Jenkins. A keen businessman with the power and mobility of a panther. He's the head of the mighty and powerful GMC. Who are looking to takeover the entire Waterloo and surrounding areas.

Things seem to be slowly working themselves into his power with the help of his main man Terry Law. Terry Law is a brutal, sadistic, and psycopathic killer who finds solace in inflicting death in the most lethal ways.

Though the Sandman is putting in work to takeover, his life isn't clear of unwanted drama with a babymomma like Keke whose trying to get back into his good graces. When she's exhausted all measures, she resorts to the unthinkable to vie for his attention.

Then enters Sherrice. A young woman full of dreams and down on her luck. A chance encounter brings both her and Sandman together as they fall head over heels for each other.

This novel is full of suspense, explosive action, drama, and secrets that will have you left feeling betrayed.

This by far is one of the best books I've read this year thus far...and one of the best to be published by TCP. I must admit, I was sucked in from the first chapter. Kudos to Mr. Givens for his talent. I can't wait to read his next project.

2.0 out of 5 stars Betrayed At The Least (token), August 14, 2008
This review is from: Betrayed (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
Darrell Jenkins aka Sandman is the kinpin of the drug trade in Waterloo, Iowa. there is the drugs, and some disturbance of others want to take it from him, but his heart is lacking a queen to fall in love with, and when he does it seems like falling in love is more on his mind than being the kinppen that he is. At times, this read turned boring and hard for me to keep my interest, there was no peak action or edge of seat cheering. The book took to long to get to the action and when it did I was like "Is this it?" Eventhough, this book has the same common plot of drugs, money, and so called war, I would've enjoyed it much better if the author would've came up with some kind of twist and turns to keep my interest at peak. I would suggest others to try and read it, but don't expect to be too highly entertained.
