I enjoyed reading this story. Betsy is a woman who is looking to be needed. She believes that she is an old maid and will never find love. That is until the new pastor William comes to replace her father. I enjoyed reading this story because it showed that no matter how unimportant a person can feel they are important to someone.

BETSY'S RETURN by Wanda E. Brunstetter is an delightful Inspirational Romance set in the 1800's on the Lehigh Canal in Walnutport, PA. This the second book in the Brides of Lehigh Canal but can be read as a stand alone. It is a wonderful story of romance, family, the return to one's hometown, and new beginnings. The characters are strong and pull you into the story with them. If you have not read Kelly's Chance(Book one), pick one up and read it. Betsy is actually the preacher's daughter who in book one has issues, but she has grown up in her faith and her life. She believes she will be an old maid, that no one will love her. What a surprise awaits her in this book. This is a keeper. It is fast paced and a page turner. I would highly recommend this book. The author has done a great job, I do enjoy her stories. She also has an Amish series that is great and writes children's books. This book was received for review and details can be found at [...].

Thoroughly enjoyed this book by Wanda L Brunstetter. Quite a change in Betsy from the first book... so you need to read" Kelly's Chance" first.
Stories take place in the late 1800's.

Besure to get the whole series as each continues the story. Written very well and keeps you wanting more.Brunsetter is a great author.

The romance was a bit blah for me but I loved the struggle that Betsy had with herself - between the person she was and the person she's trying to be.

This is a quick, easy read. If you haven't read it yet, ignore the part on the back cover that states William and Betsy disagree on methods of ministry. I saw no indication of that.

I was glad to see Betsy had changed from the snobby, self-centered young woman she had been in Book 1, Kelly's Chance. My only complaint in that book was that no explanation was given for Betsy's sudden change of attitude, however welcome it was. While I'm always happy to see unpleasant characters change for the better, I like it more if I know at least a little of how it came about. I feel it would have made a good book even better.

However, this book was a pleasant way to spend a couple of evenings. Be sure to read the first and third books if you enjoy this one, Kelly's Chance and Sarah's Choice. They're great also.

One last thing...this book made me very hungry! It seemed like they were always eating!

This is the second book of the Brides of Lehigh Canal series. The author brings you to experience (in words) how living on a canal in the early days of this century could be very difficult depending on your type of job. In those days, there were workers on the canal who worked long days doing tedious, and mostly backbreaking work. Betsy, the main character of Betsy's Return, was a character from the first book (Kelly's Chance) who was self centered in many ways. In the second book you will find that she has matured, left the self-centeredness behind, lives in New York City and faces new challenges when she finds out about her ailing father. She returns home to face an uncertain future but everything will work out for the best. I enjoyed this book, as well as the other two in the series. No profanity. Readers, be sure to also read the third book of the series, Sarah's Choice. Sarah is the sister of Kelly. The author, Wanda E. Brunstetter has written several other book that I plan to read.

As always Wanda Brunstetter has written a great book. I'm now retired and can read these amazing books. Thanks for making them available. Grandma G

I've read many of Wanda Brunstetter's Amish novels, and I think she is good. When I read this series of books, however, I put her in the "great" category. For some reason, I feel that her writing style in this series is far superior to her Amish fiction. In my mind, she's now in the category with B.J. Hoff, Karen Kingsbury, and Beverly Lewis, to name but three excellent writers. Please read the previous books in this series first. They are excellent, too. This is a wonderful sequel. I hope there will be more!
