I have faithfully watched all eleven seasons of NCIS. I have purchased ten seasons of NCIS on DVD and loved them. But, no more. The only good thing that I can say about Season 11 is that it's over! The only episodes that are the least bit good, are the ones at the beginning, that DO NOT INCLUDE BISHOP! Gibbs has been neutered and the rest of the cast has taken a back seat to the new, brilliant Bishop. How did the original cast ever solve a single crime without her? Just dumb luck I guess! If she is so perfect, why don't they just give her a show of her own, instead of ruining a successful one that has been running for over a decade?

I am a loyal viewer, even purchasing each season on DVD (thank you Amazon.com); but when the character Ziva David (played by the lovely Cote de Pablo) left the show in episode 3 of season 11 because CBS didn't know the jewel they had and wouldn't treat her equitably, the show went right down the tubes. The chemistry was gone, the episodes were weak and the characters lost their way. The new Bishop does not fit in with the team - Gibbs forgot how to lead and DiNozzo and McGee got lost somewhere in the attempt to shove Bishop down our throats. I LOVED the ensemble that ended at episode 2 and haven't watched since episode 6 or so, it's so terrible. I watch all the old episodes on USA and my DVDs but won't watch any more shows on CBS. It's a crying shame that they threw the show into the trash heap because their egos are more important to them than the show.

The team is not the same at all - sure the episodes are still good, but Bishop just doesn't fit. The awesome team dynamic is gone. There's no connection. She's just another character. Kate and Ziva had a real impact on the team.
After all of these years, I have to mark it as a 3.

Actually I don't know if the episodes have a good story line. I haven't watched any more episodes since this review. I won't be watching next season unless they get a new character!

Although I definitely would not recommend this season, I've heard that episode 24. 'Honor Thy Father' is a must see. I haven't seen it yet, but I will soon.

My husband and I were rabid NCIS fans - we have all the NCIS season DVD's, the introduction to NCIS DVD's from JAG episodes, and the NCIS Playfest DVD. Our dog is even named "Gibbs." We were bitterly disappointed with the addition of the ditzy (yet supposedly brilliant) blond, Ellie Bishop. She fits, in no way, with the team. She does a solo act and plays a lone wolf. She is insolent, and is a smart mouth, and based on his past behavior, Gibbs would have fired her long ago. Recognizing the changing scene of crime, all the terrorism plots are understandable, but they're complicated, obscure at best, and seem almost designed for this new character. (And frankly, we can get enough "terrorism" by watching the evening news.) Part of the show's appeal was the fact that all characters were "good guys" who tried to "do the right thing. Ducky's and Abbey's contributions now seem to be irrelevant, and the other characters have faded into the background. Ziva was unique as was Kate. Are they irreplaceable? Surely the writers can formulate a new role and the casting staff fill it with a more appropriate replacement who will blend, not clash, with the show's present chemistry. Perhaps Mark Harmon needs to talk to the people who did the casting for MASH who replaced multiple characters without taking away from the show's symmetry. If something doesn't change, I am afraid that NCIS will be relegated to the dust heap. If they are trying to get rid of Gibbs, then do it. Please don't allow a wonderful series to dribble away, become an empty shell and leave all of its faithful viewers disillusioned and unhappy.

Forget the ditzy blond- I do not care how smart she is. They still
need a replacement for Ziva and she is most certainly not it!!

The series, unfortunately, to me has jumped the shark. Mostly I think because of the loss of a strong member of the team, first Kate, then Ziva. I was upset when Kate was killed off, but the actress that played her replacement, Ziva was so excellent. She had a great effect on the team, and had an endlessly fascinating back story.

At first I thought it was the writers not giving Bishop enough story line to work with, but I've finally decided that this new actress playing Bishop just doesn't have the Right Stuff for team NCIS. I really, really hope that NCIS/Harmon find another way to bring the show back to what it was. I have been a faithful audience for NCIS from the beginning, but if they don't do better than Bishop's character, I won't be for long.
