5.0 out of 5 stars Well done exercise video!, February 23, 2009
This review is from: Better Body Workout: Low-Impact Aerobic Workout (VHS Tape)
This workout has several features that impressed me:
*Clear directions and transitions
*Explanation about modifying movements to increase or decrease heart rate
*Full warm up and cool down sections for aerobic session
*Separate aerobic and floor work sessions
Note: Since I work out on carpeting and have to watch my knees, I avoid the pivots and turns. I substitute grapevine steps where sideways movement with turning is called for.
Another note: If needed, I can step in time while checking on a meal or play-chasing my young daughter. I like that!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of My Favorite Workouts, August 15, 2011
This review is from: Better Body Workout: Low-Impact Aerobic Workout (VHS Tape)
This really is a nicely done workout video. There are no jumps but the moves are such that you can exert yourself as much or as little as is appropriate so that you get good exercise regardless of your fitness level.

The first few times I did it, I got kind of confused with the order of moves, but after going through them it got much easier to follow. At first it seemed to take forever to get through because I was trying to learn the flow of it. I remember the first time I heard her say "Are you ready to do the whole routine one more time?" and I thought, 'You've got to be kidding!' But it really is very doable! The moves build on each other so that they change throughout, but the order stays the same, so once you learn it, you can really throw yourself into it.

She has four other women doing the workout with her. All are dressed modestly in tights and leotards. There is no cleavage or anything to offend a conservative Christian. The women are of different ages, but not overweight.

The music, which I believe was arranged and performed by Stormie's husband, is better than a lot of workout videos. It has a little bit of a "rock" beat, but it's pretty gentle while still being fun and motivational.

The format is a little unique in that you watch the women exercise, but Stormie's voice is recorded. She doesn't talk while exercising. After doing the aerobic part (about 30 minutes) there is an optional floor workout (about 10 or 15 minutes) that includes basic crunches and leg lifts. It's not grueling, but there is enough that you feel like you got a workout.

The previous reviewer mentioned skipping the pivots, which I do too. There are only a couple of moves that use those and it's easy to just walk back and forth if you can't pivot.

FYI, I'm 54 and quite overweight. This workout might be a little tame for people who are in great shape to start with. But like I said, you can work as hard or as easy as you want. And I really like the modesty in it.
