5.0 out of 5 stars good newcomers, October 27, 2004
This review is from: Better Days Ahead (Audio CD)
I saw this group at a church in Illinois recently and was expecting just another college band that is mediocre. Boy was I wrong! Better Days Ahead is an outstanding rock group with just the right mix of awesome lyrics, great singing and wonderful musicianship. Their new CD is highly recommended. You will not be disappointed with your purchase. This is just another great group to come out of Greenville College.

4.0 out of 5 stars An infectious, well-performed pop/rock set., December 16, 2004

This review is from: Better Days Ahead (Audio CD)
Comparisons to Jars of Clay seem inevitable for the lads of BDA, who met as freshmen at Greenville College, home of the Jars collective. And, truth be told, acoustically-based tracks like "Endless" and "Into Our Midst" fall into the same adult alternative pop/rock category that seems to fit the JoC crew.

Elsewhere, though, the group mixes things up a bit. "Answer Me" mirrors the guitar-driven modern rock of the Goo Goo Dolls and 3 Doors Down. The equally notable "Endless" walks a more teen-pop-friendly line. "Love is Here" sounds like a slightly harder-edged Rembrandts. And "Let Love Come Down" shows what Lenny Kravitz and PFR would sound like covering Journey's "Stone in Love."

Some of the songs are a tad listless. And the album does tend to blend in among ever-widening sea of like-sounding pop/rock purveyors. But, even at its most imitative, the debut record is still nearly always ingratiatingly catchy. And one can hear, underneath it all, the sound of a band on the verge of forging a truly distinctive sound. As the work of a group of early twenty-somethings taking their opening bow into the Christian pop arena, Better Days Ahead acquits its creators quite nicely.

5.0 out of 5 stars BDA Breaks Out Strong!, October 26, 2004
This review is from: Better Days Ahead (Audio CD)
These guys met at college and formed one of the tightest Christian rock units to come along in a while. The songs, the vocals, the guitars, the beat are awesome. A must have for any CCM collection. Don't miss them on tour!

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING!!!!, November 4, 2004
This review is from: Better Days Ahead (Audio CD)
Very impressive! A perfect mix of lyrics, melody, harmony, and rhythm. This group is extremely talented. It's already one of my favorite CDs to listen to. I highly recommend it, not just as a Christian band CD, but as music generally.

BDA's songs are infinitely uplifting. I heard their track "Into Our Midst" in another CD and decided to give their entire album a shot. The previews made me want to hear more... I've been listening to this CD on repeat, and it never gets old. I've never forgotten their name ... BDA: Better Days Ahead. It really reminds me in times of trial that things will get better. It's disheartening to hear they've long gone disbanded, but I sincerely hope that they haven't stopped playing their music, because I will always support them.

It was my first Christian music CD and I absolutely loved it. Had a hard time finding newer releases from this band. Wish they did more.

This is one of the best christian bands I've found in the last 5 years of searching. They have great vocals, great musicianship, great melodies, awesome harmony, and great rhythm. Most of the cd's I buy have only a few songs I really like. I love this entire cd. They have great variety and all their songs are a pleasure to listen to.

4.0 out of 5 stars not ashamed, September 11, 2007
This review is from: Better Days Ahead (Audio CD)
I was surprised when I listened to this cd. Please understand I don't pay full price for nothing. I found it at a clearence section at a local cd buy, sell, trade store. It stayed in my car for two weeks until I was making a errand and decided to give it an ear. This band rocks. More importantly they are not ashamed to be a christian rock band. In an age where it okay to be a christian in a rock band, not a christian rock band it was refreshing. BDA should have tried to be more original in their melodys. Some of it was predictible. O, and I can't stand when bands use letters for the name of a band. In two years or so it will get on your nerves when you can't remember what BDA stands for. Other than that I look foward in seeing what this band will do next.
