5.0 out of 5 stars Better Days - Goo Goo Dolls
This is a beautiful song and one of the best I've heard from the Goo Goo Dolls. I have probably listened to it 40 times since it came out and it never gets old. It truely shows what a great band they are and I know the album will be worth waiting for!

2.0 out of 5 stars 2.5-Blander than Iceberg Lettuce
I love the Goos, however I can only recommend this single only to diehard Goo fans. I don't expect Johnny and the boys to put out an album like Hold Me Up, Superstar Carwash, or even A Boy Named Goo, but it seems like they've lost their rocker souls and have settled for being banal adult contemporary (ac) musicians. Better Days lacks the passion, grit, and ingenuity of...

I will make this kind and clear, I just want the rest of this album. I've been a fan of the GGD and this is yet another great song by them. Can't wait for the rest of the album. Something tells me it's gonna be a big un.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally awesome!, December 19, 2005
This review is from: Better Days (Audio CD)
The first time I heard Better Days, I knew it was Johnny and the Goo Goo Dolls, this song is moving and beautiful. The refreshing thing about the Goo Goo Dolls' music is, you can actually understand the words to the songs. Job well done guys, I can't wait for this album. Once again, you did not dissapoint! Johnny's voice is fabulous.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great comeback!, March 13, 2006

The Goos were definitely one of my favorite bands of the '90s, and its been some time since 'Gutterflower' in 2003. I did enjoy 'here is gone' on that album.

It's nice to see a great single after those 2 years. Better Days has a great depth to it, and deep, passionate lyrics. It's about a bad time and they're hoping for 'just a chance to find better days.'

It is ballad-ish, and comes close to the good ol' acoustic ballads 'Name' (1995) and 'Iris' (1997).

Better Days is a great comeback and proves that Johnny and the rest of the Goos have lasting power. They've been around since 1988...

Can't wait for their next CD - it would restore their popularity like it was in the 1990s.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the Goos, March 11, 2006
This review is from: Better Days (Audio CD)
I want to first start off by saying that this song is beautiful, deep, and meaningful. Some of the other reviewers don't seem to grasp that. This song was used as kind of an anthem after the Hurricane Katrina disaster, and in my opinion inspires hope in people rather than sounding like a "funeral dirge". As for them having "lost their rocker souls and settled for being banal", nothing they ever put out will be soulless or boring. As for the comment that they are "too old and now care more about sales instead of where they came from", I just don't agree with that at all. No one ever gets anywhere by staying the same, and you have to know where you came from in order to know where you're going. I love the way the Goos are growing, and everything John Rzeznik writes just gets better and better (which can't be easy). These guys are great!!! Definitely buy "Better Days" or anything else they release.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tonight's the night the world begins again., December 1, 2005
This review is from: Better Days (Audio CD)
I've loved the Goo Goo Dolls for a long time now, and as highly as I think of just about all of their stuff, I have no hesitation in saying that this is the best and most beautiful song they've ever done. Johnny really needs to hurry the hell up and get this new album together, because I can't wait any longer for it. Anyway, this song's amazing. The Goos prove again that they do melodic rock like nobody else.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Absolutely Fantastic Piece..., April 13, 2006

This review is from: Better Days (Audio CD)
I just have to express my opinion on this song.. since I discovered the Goos 3-4 years ago now, I fell in love with Here Is Gone and it has been at the top of my list of favourites since then, but it's threatening to be eclipsed by this piece of brilliance!

Whoever said that the Goos are lacking passion obviously is totally numb to itthemselves because Better Days is absolutely loaded with passion and soul and there is no way that that can denied.

I too stress the importance that when listening to this song, keep in mind the effects of Hurricane Katrina for which this song has become entwined with. If that is forgotten or not considered, I agree that the song *could* (though still not imo) be considered a bit "schmaltzy", which is why I tell people when they first hear it..

I personally LOVE it

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT, January 14, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Better Days (Audio CD)
I bought this CD for my brother and sister, off of Amazon, and they just love them. Now when I get home from school in the afternoons that is what I hear coming out of their speakers. When I bought them the CD's for Christmas, I was'nt sure that I would want one, so I decided not to buy it. My birthday is next month and I have decided that I would like the Goo Goo Dolls Cd... So I asked my parents for it and I think that I will get it! YES!!!!!!
