5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely Some Good Dayz!
Joe does an excellent job on Better Days with his soulful voice and smooth ballads. Hands down, Joe is an exceptional talent that should be recognized. He's by far one of the best male singers out there right next to Luther Vandross. Joe's intoxicating love ballads leave you feeling loved, respected, and most all cherished as a woman. 3.0 out of 5 stars A step down from the last never the less still good
It's no secret that JOE is a very talented soul singer. However after the mamooth sucess of My Name Is Joe, Better Days was released in time for the holiday seasons. Let's Stay Home Tonight," is a rather straightforward remix for the rap audience featuring Petey Pablo. The other collaboration, "Ghetto Child," is a bit more ambitious, featuring Shaggy and the Boys Choir of...

He's by far one of the best male singers out there right next to Luther Vandross. Joe's intoxicating love ballads leave you feeling loved, respected, and most all cherished as a woman. As a man his songs shows you how to love, respect, and appreciate your woman. This is truly a man who indeed knows how to appreciate a woman.

Joe demonstrates his tenderness on such songs as "What If A Woman" "Ghetto Child" "She Used 2 Luv Me" and the most beautiful song ever "Lover's Prayer". If you're looking for Better Days ahead, buy this album. I promise, you won't regret it.

Some people say that they didn't like this album but personally I love this album and all of Joe's music. With tracks like "Ghetto Child" and "I understand" these are two truly brilliant tracks also the track "Lover's Prayer" is a truly romantic song and with the cheaky little number "Here She Comes" for me this album has everything and I would very much recomend this album and everyother joe album because they are all brilliant and well worth buying. Buy Joe and spread the word because he should be one of the biggest names in the world of music. HOW IS HE NOT?!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars An Underated Talent, May 3, 2006

Despite Joe not receiving such wide acclaim as other of todays R&B stars, his work and acheivements should not be overlooked as he is without doubt one of todays most gifted songwriters.

On his fourth project, Better Days (2001), he diplays his growing versatility as an evidently serious recording artist. His work has great depth expoloring serious and relevant human issues and expresses genuinley deep, honest emotion. He has an undeniable flair for ballads with such offerings as What If A Woman, Alone and Isn't This The World. The gentle and sensual musical arrangements which have all the emphasis and elements of the modern day R&B sound are all beautifully mellow with each holding an undeniably timeless appeal.

The quality in his work is consistent throughout and the album does delve into urban, late-night R&B numbers such as the sultry Let's Stay Home Tonight, Ghetto Child (featuring an effective interlude from another gifted R&B artist, Shaggy), the playful I Like Sexy Girls and a few truly sensational numbers like Lovers Prayer, Changed Man, I Understand to name but a few.

There is such passion in his work thats it's questionable as to why his unique talent an work so far has been so over-looked but never the less it's quality what counts and tis album is just that. This is probably Joe's greatest album yet and had it been given te right radio air-play this could have easily have catapulted into view with the media. Superb and sensational and possibly is the modern-day Marvin Gaye.

5.0 out of 5 stars Joe does it again, February 19, 2002

One of the most talented songwriters, producers, singers have release his most soulful and personal cd to date. Long time listener of Joe going back to his very entertaining but sorely overlook debut " Everything" to the romantic-soulful second CD All That I Am to the very steamy My Name Is Joe this man have gotten better and better with each release. Now with his latest CD Better Days in time where our country have been through the worst of times Sept 11. Joe felt it was time for some inspiration which makes more up then half of the disc with such songs like Better Days a tale of young struggling mothers doing by any means neccessary to surive a very touching and inspirational song, Ghetto Child w/ Shaggy is a uplifting message to the inner city youth no matter how things look in your life things will get better.

Joe havent abandonded the romantic side with three of the strongest tracks on the CD the 1 st single Let's Stay Home Tonight, Lovers Prayer, World Of Girls should keep his die hard fans satisfied. The best track on the entire on the CD in my humble opinion is What If A Woman. Joe flips the scrpit on this tune asking what if the table was turn if the woman do some of the same thing men do. I can honestly say this song makes you think no matter if you are a man or woman . Other highlights on the disc " Alone", Changed Man, " I Understand" all n all another terrific disc from today's premire singer, songwriter , producer Joe creates another soulful, well crafted CD that should keep his long standing fans happy as well as making new fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars BETTER DAYS SHOWS SOME BETTER MUSIC, February 9, 2002
By
This review is from: Better Days (Audio CD)
Joe is back with "Better Days". The guy who gave us a great dance soul funk number called "Stutter".

His first single of this album "Lets Stay Home Tonight" is bombing on the charts bouncing in the 80s on the Hot 100...and I ask why? This man has got a voice, music that has a beginning middle and an end, sex appeal, and most of all great songs.

Why is it that artists like Mystikal (who can't even carry a rap tune-just screams), Ludacris (who likes to showoff his bling bling), and Busta Rhymes (who has the ugliest smile in show business) keep topping the charts, but guys like Joe are just floating somewhere in the middle ground....shame.

The first single, "Lovers Prayer", "Alone" and "Ghetto Child" are some of the strong cuts, however this whole album is a soulful delight.

Very well produced, engineered and written, this is one of the best surprise treats of the new millenium.

Joe is a very talented artist who I hope has a future in this business, with the unfortunate likes of the nauseating Mystikal singing "DANGER!", or Ludacris "Rolling out the dough", its about time we get back to the soulful art of R&B with music that just soothes your soul.

5.0 out of 5 stars Once Again He Did It!!!!!!, December 12, 2001

Joe has took his musical ballard male dominating vocals to another level. This is truly one of his greatest pieces of work in the studio, when it comes to various male artist in todays urban musical catagory. Maxwell, Babyface and even R-Kelly's latest projects has failed the expectations when it comes to the pubics ear and expecially my ear. Joe's CD "Better Days start out with the sexy sultry ballard of "Let's Stay Home Tonight" and glides you right into several melodies such as "Alone" and "I Understand" which I feel are the bomb!!!!! What ever you're doing Joe, keep up the outstanding work because at this moment you can dominate the male urban sound if you really want to. Recommmend this CD to any lover that has alot of love to give, and if you don't have alot of love to give then just give this CD!!!!!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Joe brings "better days" 4th time around..tight!, December 11, 2001

Joe has been consistent ever since he droped his last album that really took him to the top with the hit song "I wanna know". Now he is back with "Better Days" for the forth time around and comes back just as strong. I wasent sure how he would follow up on this after having so much success on his last one but I see a chance for histroy to reapeat with this cd. He produced most of the cd while the neptunes took care of the rest. The best songs here are songs like: Lets stay home tonight(in heavy rotation now but tight), Better Days(Title track and one of the best tracks on the cd), What if a woman(makes you think of yourself in this situation but nice midtempo jam), Ghetto child(reminds me of r. kelly's "I wish"), Lovers prayer(A deep song/prayer to make things last in a relationship), She used to luv me(Nice midtempo/hip-hop beat/with some reggae too) and Alone(Another tight midtempo jam about lonliness(like janets jam "I get lonley)). Overall he came strong for the forth time around and anyone who likes R+B should pick this up. One of the best to drop since Carl Thomas's "Emotions" cd.

Get It.
