It's very hard for me not to like a song that is being sung by Chrisette Michele. She has that kind of effect on me. I have a few issues with this album though. The continued insistence on using rappers in her songs just gets on my nerves. Please discontinue. There seems to be an extra amount of electronics that are quite evident in some tracks. Note to record companies, labels and producers. Music sounds better when actual musical instruments are used; the electronics should be used for enhancements and tweeks and should not be the main event. Please discontinue.
Chrisette Michele is to me a superstar, surpassed by no one in music today. Better is not better than her previous albums but her instrument is still awesome. 1.5 deducted for the overuse of rappers. 1.5 deducted for the overuse of fake instruments. 7 out of 10

I got first say Chrisette always puts out quality soulful music with a feel good vibe and that being said this album shows continue growth in leaps and bounds as an artist. If your a fan of Miss Michele I recommend buying the deluxe the whole album is off the charts and one of the best R&B albums to kick off the summer of 2013.

Some artists get stuck in the same sound and beats. But Chrisette Michele knows how to stay in her lane and make her music better with time. Chrisette can rock slow and fast songs, and still stay strong in her vocals and complement the beats. I am always left feeling stronger as a woman after listening to Chrisette's albums. Its always good to know you aren't the only one that has certain type of feelings or situations. You will truly appreciate and relate to this album if you have ever been in love and given you're all. "A Couple of Forevers" is my favorite song on the album; it's just a song that makes you feel good. The only thing that is wrong with this cd is how it was marketed. The release date should have been advertised more. This is one of the best albums to come out this year.

I've been a fan of Chrisette Michele since her feature on Jay-Z's Lost One. Her voice is so classic it almost sounds like a recording from the 50's or 60's at times. Some of the more uptempo songs were just ok. Also, I really could have done without the 2 Chainz feature or the female rapper who I believe is goes by Nello. I do get the necessity for those songs though. Seems like nowadays, only Alicia Keys (who is great in her own right) can sell an catalogue full of ballads.

All in all however, there are some incredible songs that really accentuate Chrisette Michele's incredible voice. This album was a much needed break from the "ratchet-esque" songs about ghetto fabulous lust masquerading as love. Quite frankly, the content of today's R&B sounds like a musical version of the hoodrat trash-ality that has plagued television. I don't want to hear the Glee version of Atlanta Hoodwives or Lust and Hip-Hop. This album brings us back to quality music with powerful lyrics and deep meaning, while throwing in a few light hearted tunes to unwind to like Rich Hipster. Albums like this don't typically sell off the shelves, but it has far more songs that will resonate for years to come than the flavor of the month artist. If you want to hear meaningless songs from artists yelling and struggling to hit notes...continue to listen to the mainstream radio stations. "Better" is far from that type of album.

The Ojays "Stairway to Heaven" is my all time favorite love song. Upon first listening to A Couple of Forevers, I definitely had a "she better not mess this up" look on my face when I realized it was being sampled. However, once again, Chrisette didn't cease to amaze me. It's by far my favorite song on the album. Simply incredible.

Chrisette is back with her 4th effort "Better" and her sound is more forward and in your face and Chrisette's "rich hipster" persona really shines through on this one. There are definitely some standouts and songs that remind me of the old Chrisette with a new honesty like A Couple of Forevers, Let Me Win, Better, Love Won't Leave Me Out, Snow, Charades (we could've heard it without 2 Chainz), You Mean That Much To Me, Get Through the Night, Ten Foot Stilettos and I'm Still Fly.

Overall, I do believe this was a solid effort for Ms. Chrisette, however and although some may disagree, I felt some of the songs were a bit too similar, were not as cohesive in a way and did not catch my attention like her 2nd effort, Epiphany. I was hoping for more of that sound but more progressed. She does also remind me of Jill Scott on a couple songs (I'm Still Fly, Ten Foot Stilettos). While this is an album worth having in your collection, I haven't really went back to hear many of the songs for a second serving. Nevertheless, I can respect the effort.

i don't know why America has not put this Artist in the fore front of the music industry. it's amazing they would rather play hip hop than to treasure a hidden gem. have every album ( record) she's put out and love them all. like a lot of reviewers stated i think she should stay away from rap and hip hop as well. Her first two joints were why we fell in love with her. She is a classy singer and should stay classy. I hope her next album will be like the first two " I Am & Epiphany". The runs in those 2 Albums were off the chart.
