Not for the serious home designer,

After several weeks exploring Better Homes and Gardens Home Designer Suite 6.0 Bundle and coming from a construction back ground with AutoCAD experience, I am very disappointed in the purposeful exclusion of what should be basic abilities of the program. While most of these are available in the Pro version for an additional cost of several hundred dollars, they should have included them in this version. If you are designing a very basic ranch or split level home with out complicated roof lines or roof pitches, or you desire to undertake a modern minimalist idea with haft height divider walls or large glass exterior planes, this software is not for you. To their credit however, Chief architects (the software's creators) have made tremendous strides forward in the software's ease of use to create what would be complicated 3D images from basic layouts and designs. If you want to play with interiors designs that do not have complicated wall surface treatments, or multi level cathedral ceilings, this might be the best product on the market to realize your ideas. It is not however for the professional who would require the ability to edit walls and objects to customize the design. Over all, it is a good tool, but I would not recommend it for a design professional or experienced builder.
