My grandmother gave me this book for Christmas in 1952. My favorite story was the The Story of the Live Dolls. I made my mother read it to me over and over. When my granddaughter was three, I searched the internet for this book...so I could read that story to her.

This was my favorite story book as a child. It made such an impression on me that even after 40+ years, I still remember exactly the title and how it looked. Now I have found it again, and I just know my son is going to love the pictures & interactive stories just as much as I did. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes (or doesn't!) to read to their kids - "The Little Red Hen" has little tiny pictures in place of some of the words, which is such great fun for the little ones who can't read yet. I remember going from blur of letters to actually being able to read this myself, with how many times I made my dad read it to me! Wonderful book, I can't praise it enough.

MY GRANDMOTHER READ TO ME FROM THIS BOOK EVERYDAY AND I NEVER GREW TIRED OF THE WONDERFUL STORIES. IT HAS SUCH A VARIETY OF TRULY GREAT TALES. THE LITTLE BEAVERS SINGING,THE MIXED UP ALPHABET, THE BROWNIES AND THE LITTLE GIRL WHO LEARNED TO TREAT HER KITTENS WITH RESPECT WERE AMONG MY FAVORITES. NOT TO MENTION PETER RABBIT AND THE LITTLE RED HEN. I CANT WAIT TO SHARE THIS BOOK WITH MY CHILDREN!

This book has a variety of stories and illustrators. Some of the pictures seemed old-fashined even when I was a child in the fifties. That just added to the allurement of this book. I'd like to see this book in print again. We Baby Boomers would love it and could share it with our children and grandchildren.

I received this book in 1958 and read it until many of the pages fell out. I still have the book and want to replace it as so many of the stories are still wonderful for all ages and want to continue to share them. I too would like to see a reprint made. I read it often to children who visit and where the pages are missing, I just make up those parts from memory.
A great little story book that covers stories that interest boys and girls, young and older.

Just like Eloise, this classic 50's book needs to be in print again. It contains a fantastic array of childhood stories, from Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit, to Joel Chandler Harris' stories about Uncle Remus. It has simple rhymes and great read along stories. Surely this book will enjoy the same success as Eloise if it makes it back into print.

I grew up with this collection, and spent my life reading stories to children. Nothing beats this for a variety of classic tales and illustrations. It opens with Little Red Hen, and goes through The House that Jack Built, and Over in the Meadow, among others, to include The Live Dolls--which is hard to find, but unforgettable. It deserves its space on the shelf for the first ten years of a child's life.

I purchased this book for my children almost 40 years ago. During that time the binding has come loose and is not good enough to pass down to my Great Grandchildren. I was so surprised and delighted to find not only one but two copies of this book. The prices were very reasonable and the books were in brand new condition. Now both of my great grandchildren will each have a copy of this family treasured book.

This was not the book I thought I ordered. I wanted the first Better Homes and Gardens Storybook. This one does not have either familiar or particularly interesting stories. I do not know how I would have known that this would be the book I would receive and not the one I believed I had ordered.

exactly how i remember. this book was what i wanted and reminds me of my childhood. I am excited to have these stories for my own children. while the book is worn with some damage, it does not detract from it's beautiful and rich rhymes.
