Really good for beginning gardeners,
This is a great book for beginning gardeners. It has all the basics you need to start a garden, but will not overwhelm you. It has a directory secion in the back that lists each vegetable, then presents the few main points you need to know about raising each.
The rest of the book is laid out in section: Planning - About soil, selecting site, what is your garden style, setting up a journal Bumper Crop Techniques - Interplanting, Space-maker Gardens, Bonus harvests, Succession Planting, Autumn garden, vertical gardening Vegetable Plating and Care - Getting started, tips, care, extending the season, companion planting, insects and diseases, quick starters All in all a great little book for the beginning gardener that does not have the time to thumb through a huge book on the subject. |
