5.0 out of 5 stars No leaks so far
I got these after I bought a cheap dispenser from Walmart which leaked, gave only a drop of shampoo at a time, and fell off the shower wall twice.

How hard can it be to make a soap dispenser that works? Evidently, it's pretty hard.

I wanted a soap dispenser for Soft Soap. Those containers that come with the Soft Soap work really well and last forever, but I wanted one that was larger and looked nicer.

So I bought one somewhere else. It shot soap about 5 feet or onto the person trying to use...

I got these after I bought a cheap dispenser from Walmart which leaked, gave only a drop of shampoo at a time, and fell off the shower wall twice.

This soap dispenser is nice looking, and easy to fill. It comes with sticky tape and silicone glue. The instructions say to use the whole tube of glue, and that the tape is only to hold it in place while the glue dries. Well, since I had problems with the Walmart one, I followed the instructions exactly, and used all the glue, and the tape. I also didn't put the dispenser on until two days after I attached it, just to make sure the glue was dry. I used painters blue tape to hold it in place too. My shower surround is cultured marble. Before putting the glue I used alcohol to clean the wall and the dispenser mount. I used the alcohol wipes that are used for medical purposes, and they work great. It cleans off any oily or soap residue and dries fast. I waited for the alcohol to dry completely before applying the glue. There is a diagram on how to apply the glue to the back of the mount.

The instructions tell you not to fill it or use it for 24 hours after application. Also, the glue is quite stink when not dry. I used the smell as an indicator of whether the glue was dry or not. The smell has faded almost entirely.

I have since filled it and used it for a week! I am quite pleased. It has not leaked at all, and the amount it dispenses is just enough for liquid face soap. For shampoo, I got the two dispensers with the basket, and those work equally great. No leaks and I use two pumps to get the right amount of shampoo (I have shoulder length hair).

These work great so far and I am happy with them. The dispensers can be filled while attached or separately, as you can simply slide them up off the mount. The glue did not interfere with the mount at all.

UPDATE - October 2008

The dispenser is working as good as new, no problems with it at all. Given the hot conditions we live on the leeward side of Oahu, I am very pleased with this product! It is still firmly attached to the shower wall. I love it.

I bought the 3 in 1 set from Bed Bath and Beyond before I saw the single dispensers available here. Both the 3 in 1, and the single dispenser, work great...I just ordered 4 more of the single units. Dispensers I have tried in the past did not work that well, and tended to leak when not in use. So far (about 4 weeks), these units have worked perfectly. I will replace them if one goes bad. For 6 bucks the single dispenser is a great buy, and free shipping with the 4 I just ordered.

5.0 out of 5 stars Single Dispenser - love it!, February 13, 2008
This was a little smaller than I expected but we LOVE the product!! We put it in our laundry room with soap by our utility sink. I did follow the instructions like filling it with water first to make sure it worked before hanging it up. It doesn't leek. The pump works. It's a wonderful product!!!

I could not find much in the way of mouthwash dispensers and saw someone else's recommendation to use this one for that. And it works great!

It shot soap about 5 feet or onto the person trying to use it - whichever got hit first.

I was determined not to make the same mistake, so I researched soap dispensers on Amazon.com. Based on the reviews, this one didn't shoot soap, gave a fair amount of soap for each squirt, didn't leak, etc. I was excited to order it (as excited as I could be about a soap dispenser).

It looks nice. The design is cool. It holds a good amount of soap. It dispenses soap when you press the button.

>>>>However, it dribbles after dispensing the soap. Anything under the dispenser will get soap on it. Maybe this isn't a problem in the shower, but it's a big problem in the kitchen (where I have it) and over the bathroom sink.<<<<

>>>>Plus the mounting hardware that came with the dispenser is terrible. The amount of pressure it takes to dispense the soap makes the dispenser fall off of the wall. You will need two #6 plaster anchors and two #6 one inch WOOD screws. Regular plaster screws will not work because the head of the screw is rounded. Because of the design of the dispenser, the head of the screw must sit FLAT with the mount.<<<<

How hard can it be to make a decent soap dispenser? The folks that make Soft Soap make about 5 million of those cheap dispensers a year, without any problems. Why can't anyone else?

2.0 out of 5 stars If it ain't broke don't fix it- Previous model is much better., October 21, 2011

I had this for a short while and it would begin leaking a short while after. Then a friend bought me a new one and the same thing happened. It turns out that the little view window (which you don't need anyway because most of the bottle is clear and you can see how much is inside) makes the mechanism more vulnerable to leaks. Somehow the little view window over the button slowly wears away with certain soaps and leaks occur. I got their previous version which is also sold on Amazon. Not only does it not ever leak even after months and months of use, but it also holds more soap while looking great in the bathroom. In my opinion it even looks better too. Here's the link on amazon. [...]

Edit: ok so it seems I'm not allowed to post the link, but if you search for "Better Living Chrome Clear Choice Dispenser" it should come up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product, Easy Installation, March 11, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought 3 single and 1 double AVIVA in chrome and white. The installation with the included glue was very easy. There is more than enough glue so I used the excess glue to create a seal around the edge of the mounting bracket that I installed in the shower.

The dispenser worked very easily with dish detergent and hand soap. I use a very thick shampoo and conditioner in the shower. I had to tap the bottom of the dispenser several times to get rid of air pockets. Once the air pockets are gone the dispenser worked well. It has been 2 weeks and everything still works fine.

These Aviva dispensers have been excellent in the past; however, recent purchases of this product have broken a couple of times. I hope this does not continue.

1.0 out of 5 stars faulty product, May 19, 2011
By

Doesn't work. Even following manufacturer instructions to "prime" the pump, it simply won't draw product through the straw. Air just goes back and forth without creating a suction to dispense product. We tried again and again, washed and started over, and wasted a lot of time getting this thing to work, without success.

Interestingly, we've had these pumps before and they lasted a few years with no problem. It was the replacement that doesn't work. Perhaps the manufacturing quality has deteriorated. Don't waste your money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Could hold a little more..., April 2, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I am quite pleased with the product. Better quality than I had anticipated. I am using it as a mouthwash dispenser. I put it up on a vanity mirror and it is holding quite well. I was a little nervous that I would be left with the sticky stuff on my mirror if it didn't work out, but it is sturdy and has held. It also dispenses just the right amount with one pump. I just may have to consider order a couple more for in the shower afterall.
