Good Idea..., August 20, 2009
This review is from: Better Late Than Never (The Smith Sister's Trilogy - Book 1) (Paperback)
I was really excited to read this book. The synopsis had me highly interested. The idea was very good. However, once I started reading a majority of things started to bother me. First, the amount of grammar and error mistakes was far too distracting. It became so bad that instead of reading the text I started looking for misspelled words and mistakes. It was as if I was reading the beginning stages of a story as opposed to completed work.
Second, there was hardly any conflict/resolution in the story. Randy and Kristen's beginning relationship dilemma was resolved too quickly. There was not enough conflict after that. Also, once the two became physical Kristen's reluctance to officially get back with Randy was unbelievable. It would have been nice to see them struggling more before getting together.
Last, there were noticeable inconsistencies. Like in one chapter Kristen recalled knowing about Randy's son Wade 6 years prior. This makes no sense considering Wade is only three years old. As I read I felt as if I had to excuse mistakes or fill in uncertainties that should have been edited out.
The story is not bad. I just feel like it is incomplete. The story was a good idea, but the execution was poor.

I was so disappointed!!!, July 18, 2009
This review is from: Better Late Than Never (The Smith Sister's Trilogy - Book 1) (Paperback)
I really had high hopes for this book. However, after reading the first 10 pages of this story, I knew that I had wasted my money. The characters are flat and one dimensional. The plot is rushed and the pacing of this book is horrible. I hate to start a book and not finish it, but I actually threw this one away after forcing myself to read the 1st half. I love interracial novels, but I'm so disappointed that I wasted my money on this one!

Disappointing, July 14, 2009
This review is from: Better Late Than Never (The Smith Sister's Trilogy - Book 1) (Paperback)
The concept of triplets on top of BWWM relationship intrigued me...but this one fell far short of expectations. It never developed. This story could've benefitted from a good editor, who could've corrected gramatical erros, cut pointless text (how many times does Kristen 'go upstairs, take a shower, and go to bed grasping her teddy bear')? The story had no real development of plot, no umph, no real conflict despite potential (Triplets causing confusion in the who's who department would've been fun, and the ex-woman called towards the end to start trouble, but was never even brought on site). Why bother? And after 127 pages (at least in my size book... I didnt' realize it was so short) the only resolution was that they would try to move forward in their relationship, expecting to marry one day.
This seems like a draft of a book, a concept that needs much work. Would not recommend this effort... needs more work.
