What a delightfully sexy read!,
By Sally (Bibrary Book Lust) (Ontario, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Better Off Red: Vampire Sorority Sisters Book 1 (Paperback)
I loved the fact that Rebekah managed to establish so much of Ginger's character so quickly, and to weave so many other layers into the tale. I wasn't expecting to have so much of the sorority (and its queen) exposed so early on, but I loved the mythology Rebekah created. I was equally surprised to find the story developing into a passionate romance, with Ginger and Camila's relationship turning out far differently than I expected, but it was precisely what I had (in retrospect) hoped for. Almost the very definition of a paranormal romance, this is a book that exceeded my expectations, and fulfilled my hopes. It's well-written, incredibly sexy, and as full of emotional satisfaction as it is physical. I wouldn't dream of spoiling the ending, but I will say this - it literally had me throwing my hands in the air, squealing with girlish glee, at the wonder of it all. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for whatever Rebekah has to offer next!

A few months ago I don't think anyone would have caught me dead with a paranormal romance and now I am actively seeking them out lol. I found myself very pleased with this novel as I honestly wasn't sure what to expect. I definitely thought this book was a fantastic first novel for the author. There were very few editing errors and the storytelling flowed quite nicely.Ginger was quite likable and her instant attraction to Camila was quite believable. There was a ton of sex in this book (thats a good thing imho) and it was well done with quite a bit of variety. Another good thing was how well the secondary characters were handled. There were several girls that were all very well written and I never once got them mixed up. The novel actually went to a place at the end that I really didn't expect and am not sure that I find terribly believable. Still I am in for the long haul now. Looking forward to seeing where the author takes these characters. I'm being vague as I don't want to slip an accidental spoiler. Still I have to say that if you enjoy paranormal stuff I think this is well worth your time. I will definitely be on the lookout for this author in the future! 4/5 Well done!

Delightful new take of the vampire story - very sexy,

Better Off Red: Vampire Sorority Sisters Book 1 by Rebekah Weatherspoon
print/DRM-free ebook by [...] Oh my, what a debut: grand entrance for Ginger, Camila, Alpha Beta Omega and a whole new take of the possibility of vampires. Rebekah spins a delightful yarn and beware you might need a cold shower in between - it can be hot, very steamy hot at the Sorority <vbg>. This is a debut, but doesn't feel at all like a first attempt. Thankfully expectation management has been properly done and the reader knows that a sequel will come ... the only question is when. Every sorority has its secrets... And college freshman Ginger Carmichael couldn't care less. She has more important things on her mind, like maintaining her perfect GPA. No matter how much she can't stand the idea of the cliques and the matching colors, there's something about the girls of Alpha Beta Omega--their beauty, confidence, and unapologetic sexuality--that draws Ginger in. But once initiation begins, Ginger finds that her pledge is more than a bond of sisterhood, it's a lifelong pact to serve six bloodthirsty demons with a lot more than nutritional needs. Despite her fears, Ginger falls hard for the immortal queen of this nest, and as the semester draws to a close, she sees that protecting her family from the secret of her forbidden love is much harder than studying for finals.

I really liked this book and am looking forward to book two. There seems to be infinite possibilities for a really nice series. I agree with the previous reviews, this was well written with the basic story wrapped up & explained by the end. I'm not a fan of a lot of loose strings at the end of a book. I hope to read many more books from this author!

Better Off Red,

Ms. Weatherspoon writes as if she has been doing this her whole life! The characters in Better off Red, the first book in the Vampire Sorority Sisters series (of which I hope there are many more!), come to life quickly and easily. They are each well-developed and distinct so you aren't able to mix up the characters. I was never in a sorority myself, but if they're anything like this one - sign me up! The vampire mythos that is introduced to us in this novel is definitely a new and refreshing approach to the genre. There is plenty of sex (all steamy hot!), yet it doesn't detract from the plot as it has in some books, it's interwoven seamlessly and is a necessary part of the story, in my opinion. Beautifully written, sexy, and sensual, with great characters and an awesome plot which lends itself neatly to the next book in the series without leaving huge plot holes unfilled. I simply cannot wait for the next book!

A refreshing - and sexy - reimagining of the vampire myth,
By Nathan Burgoine (Ottawa, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Better Off Red: Vampire Sorority Sisters Book 1 (Paperback)
Ginger Carmichael came to college to learn, not join a sorority and meet cute guys like her somewhat daffy roommate Amy would like. Out of a sense of loyalty - and to make sure no one harms her friend and roommate - Ginger agrees to go through the process with Amy, at least until Amy joins her sorority. Then Ginger is out, and the studying can once again be front and centre.Except the girls of Alpha Beta Omega are enthralling. Ginger, who has begun to realize she's a lot more into girls than boys, falls into an immediate crush with one of the sorority girls at a glance - and then doesn't see her again. Sticking by her pal through the process isn't as much a hardship when there's a face to go along with some pretty hot fantasies between classes, right? That's when things take a turn for the wicked. It turns out that this sorority houses a demonic secret, and Ginger's crush isn't just some sorority babe with great hair and pretty eyes. She's a vampire, and Ginger is about to learn a whole lot more about herself and her desires than she bargained for. And maybe pass the chem final. BETTER OFF RED is a blast. Ginger's voice - a little neurotic, but bratty and strong enough to make you grin at her thought process - is fun from step one, and the cast of characters Weatherspoon brings forth are unique and varied. I particularly liked this variety - so often in erotica of any kind, all the characters are near clones of a single "ideal" and that wasn't the case here at all. Moreover, the vampire mythology that the author crafted is a few steps to the left of the usual tropes, and that was refreshing. And the sexy is definitely out in full force - Ginger's exploration and evolution of her erotic appetites are deft and hot. The plot threw a few twists at me I didn't see coming, and the surprises were welcome ones. I like the world Weatherspoon has crafted, and where things ended left me satisfied and still wanting more. One hopes this isn't the last time we've seen the girls of Alpha Beta Omega.

Just finished this a day ago. It's a very good read, plenty of steamy scenes and a nice emotional payoff at the end. I've gotten tired of some of the predictability of paranormal romance and found this story a nice change of pace.

Truly loved this book! I wasn't sure I wanted to purchase this book at first, because I thought it would be another vampire story with the same plots but boy was I happy to be so wrong. I couldn't put this down. Freshman Ginger's story follows her love of her family, joining a new sorority & trying to maintain a high GPA as well as a newfound involvement with the mysterious Camila. There were some events that I didn't see coming & emotionally I was all over the place. I was happy to be thrown through the ringer though.
Rebekah Weatherspoon really knows how to tell a story that keeps you hooked. You won't be dissappointed. Can't wait for book two!

I've been a fan of Rebekah's since I found her on FanFiction.net under the pen name Lipsmacked. As one of Rebekah's internet friends, I was excited for her when she announced that her debut novel "Better Off Red" would be available for purchase. Since I've read some of her online stories, I knew what I could expect from her, but my mind was blown once I started reading the first few chapters of this book. The story is beautifully written and has some interesting twists that weren't expected. This is an amazing introduction book. The plot doesn't have a lot of action (unless you count all the sex), but it does have a great progression. Her demonology is fascinating and there are some great scenes that tug on your heartstrings. So, if you're not afraid of some girl on girl loving and want to read a great paranormal romance novel, buy this! You will not regret it.
