A Great Product But The Price Is Outrageous Here!!!!
on May 26, 2013
I love Amazon and I buy a lot here every month including many Subscribe And Save items but this is nuts. I also shop Walmart on line. I have two windows open right now. One for Amazon and one for Walmart. I'm looking at an 8 oz jar of Chicken Better Than Bouillon for $3.44 delivered free of charge to my door from Walmart. Why would anyone pay almost 4 times as much on Amazon????? I guess it really pays A LOT to comparison shop. Based on reviews here, I'm going to try this bouillon because it sounds really good. I haven't tried it yet so just letting you know the 2 stars is because of the price...not the product quality.
Update 5-27-15: I bought this chicken base from Walmart on line back when I originally wrote this review. I wrote an update saying it wasn't much better than some others I tried. By the time I finished the bottle I realized I was wrong. It's very good and helps produce a wonderful rich tasting pot of chicken soup. To make my soup I first bake a whole chicken, use the breasts for dinner and use the rest of the chicken to make a pot of homemade chicken soup. I lightly saute chopped onions, celery, carrots, parsnip, crushed fresh garlic, and a chunk of minced fresh ginger. I add the roasted chicken all broken up into pieces with enough water just to almost cover. I also toss in a handful of chopped fresh parsley. After simmering an hour I taste the soup and add a tablespoon or so of the Better Than Bouillon soup base. That's all it takes to add a nice richness of taste to the whole pot of soup. I now buy it on a regular basis. Because of the salt content I use it sparingly though. I see the price situation is still the same so you know where I buy mine.
