Simply the best,
By Robert Mckee (tucson, az) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Better Than Good: Creating a Life You Can't Wait to Live (Hardcover)
If you are looking for the best Zig has to offer then you will find it here. I have read most of Zigs books and he really has refined his talent at simply summing up the points of successful living. You will find in this book he is more open with his faith than in any other work.
He illustrates 3 areas of life that are necessary for success: 1. Passion 2. Peak performance 3. Purpose Having read a lot of personal development books including Tony Robbins, Napoleon Hill, John Maxwell, Brian Tracy and many more, I really do believe this is the best collection of ideas on how to be successful. Zig shoots straight and doesn't overstate what people are capable of. Some other personal development guys will do that, "YOU CAN DO ANYTHING!" sort of attitude. Zig doesn't limit. He is just realistic. The writing is quick and to the point, unlike this review. Great job zig.

Some may think there is nothing more to say after all the years Zig has been motivating folks but I found this new book refreshing. He talks about passion and inspiration and its role in peak performance. While there are some Zig platitudes, they're enjoyable and fun and he makes some interesting points about the role of passion and inspiration plays in our everyday lives and of course mixes it with stories some I've heard and some I havent but overall a great new book from one of the all time greats.

To those who are put off by Ziglar's religious tone to this book in their reviews, even Ziglar states that he knows some people might be put off by it, and 20+ years ago he was not a real believer in God or anything else. He just wanted to make money. He states the change came over time.
I am not Christian, but I am spiritual. Yet I was not offended or bothered by his religious overtones. After all, he is just stating openly what he calls the passion to his success. How his life and the lessons in his life changed when he did take God into his heart and follow God's path. I feel no reason for me to be closed minded to his writing as I truly respect the man and the good he has done. Maybe, just maybe I can be even more open minded to see if his path can also be my path. I think an important point in the book for me was when he stated all the big important people that helped to form this country (Washington, Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson...) and how these people and our country were built on religious standards and helped to create these great people. But as education is taught less and less from religious and moral influence (for 200 years the alphabet was taught with each letter referencing a biblical verse and moral standard) the country has produced less and less great leaders that compare to our founding fathers. So maybe Zig has a point about incorporating a better than good life with some religious/spiritual overtones. Finally something that really stands out for me is realizing how I and so many others who are famous (no, I am not famous) would probably change their actions if they started looking at how they are moral role-models to so many young kids and they are helping to shape the future due to their actions. I know for me I am beginning to rethink what I do and how I do it and how I might be able to help shape the future leaders with my calling. Well, just my two cents.

Zig is an amazing 79 years young. He is an unbelievable inspiration and his God given wisdom will be very helpful in your business, family and personal life. This book will definetely make you ponderwhy you were put on this earth? Are you doing all you are capable of doing with the gifts you have been given? If everybody practiced what Zig preaches, this world would be a better place. He has been a difference maker in my life and many others. Thank you Zig for being a consistent man and a positive role model as a Husband, Father and fellow human being.

Without a doubt this is Zig's best book. It contains principals from all his books and an insight into the way Zig has lived a successful, "Better Than Good" life. Whether you are looking for direction, calling, or just a good motivator this book does it all and I highly recommend every single person read it. You will not be disappointed! An amazing book I plan on reading once a year!

Reading this book is like listening to a trusted mentor by the fireside--you don't want the conversation to stop. I've long been a fan of Zig's, and he does not dissapoint with this new book.

Over The Top is better,

This review is from: Better Than Good: Creating a Life You Can't Wait to Live (Hardcover)
This is a very good book from Zig..however, it seems to be aimed at readers who are unchurched or don't have a relationship with Christ...neither applies to me. Over The Top is a better book because it seems to be more geared toward diehard Zig zealots like myself because Over The Top is centered on advanced personal growth. Better Than Good is a great book for those who are just getting exposed to Zig, though..a lot like See You At The Top. His stories are always great, no matter how many times I hear them.

Zig came out with a new book and I ordered it immediately. What a good writer that not only shows you how to be positive, but helps roadmap your life. Better Than Good is a hit and I am glad I read it. The 10 year rule was most poignant. At least for me because Zig showed that forward planning cannot be too far out. Go ahead, plan 10 years down the road. In another speech I heard him say that he plans a book five years before he writes it. Excellent advice that shows on his great product. Thanks Zig. |
