Book Description

April 2005
Chocoholics rejoice! This little book is dedicated to the 15 out of every ten of us who love chocolate. Theresa Cheung, one of those 15, was left wondering after a recent episode of utter cocoa indulgence, "What if I could devour life with the same commitment and passion with which I devour chocolate?" After much thought and a great deal of taste testing, this guide to a richer life was born.

Follow Cheung's seven silky smooth chocolate principles and your life will never be the same. Along the way she offers recipes, stories, and trivia--all about chocolate and improving your life. Did you know that dark chocolate fans tend to be forward thinking and optimistic? Or that the melting point of chocolate is just below our normal temperature, which is why it melts in our mouth? Or that Casanova drank chocolate daily and declared it the elixir of love?

Grab a bar (or five) of chocolate and settle in with this book. Better Than Sex will lead you to the creamy center of what's really good--in life, love, and food.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Few people need more encouragement for indulging in chocolate, but if you crave some rationalization for doing so, the pro-chocolate facts in this book will sit well in your stomach. Using seven principles that can be applied to both the sweet treat and to life, Cheung, the author of 13 self-help and psychology books including Stress: The Lazy Person's Guide, helps readers find emotional well-being through the wisdom contained in America's favorite dessert. And while the relationship between chocolate and life principles may be slightly precarious, Cheung's reflections offer the reader a frivolous respite from the usual self-help book genre. In Principle Five, A Little Chocolate Goes a Long Way, Cheung instructs readers to "Choose the best chocolate you can buy" and then extrapolates the life lesson, "Expect nothing less than the best from yourself and your life." With excerpts from literature, recipes for desserts like Fudge Puddle Pudding, and a personality test based on the shapes of your favorite candy, the content is somewhat scattered, and Cheung seems takes her topic a bit too seriously, but many readers will still find pleasure in this playful indulgence.
