5.0 out of 5 stars This Debut Album is a HIT !!, April 28, 2007
A Kid's Review
This review is from: A Better View Of The Rising Moon (Audio CD)
1997's debut album "...A Better View Of The Rising Moon" scores high marks in my book. With Lyrics like, "Turn the lights off. I don't want to see myself doing this" as found in the song "Garden Of Evil" or from the song "Hey Darlin" , "Casting shadows on the pavement, dancing toe to toe" keeps one tapping their foot and enjoying the music.

With a splash of Mandolin, Banjo, Harmonica and even Cello, an extra unique flavor, which sets the band well apart and above the typical carbon-copy emo-type sound. 1997 does not yield to, or continue down the easier passed path placed on today's stages from other bands - 1997 has found their own path and forge ahead without screaming or cursing or songs without substance.

From "Waters Edge" to "Curse Or Cure" - the entire CD is a treat to hear and enjoy, over and over!

4.0 out of 5 stars Better View Rising Moon, August 27, 2008
This review is from: A Better View Of The Rising Moon (Audio CD)
If you like the song "Water's Edge", that doesn't mean you'll like this CD. Now if you savor this band's unique sound, by all means you will enjoy the CD. But do not expect every song to be the same as it's single. Overall I think this is the group's best release. (Not to mention that Alida Marroni and Kerri Mack are both very talented singers and attractive women!)

1997's debut album is by far one of the best of 2007. It is one of those rare gems were every song is great. You can listen to one after the other and not have to skip. They came up with the name of the band because someone said no one born before 1997 would listen to their music but I'm in my 30's and this is one of my favorite new bands and I'm excited to hear more new music from them. Great album!

5.0 out of 5 stars First album I've spent money on in a long time., April 17, 2007

A Better View of the Rising Moon is an exciting debut reminiscent of 1997's extremely energetic life performance. Each track keeps you on your toes. The vocals leave you raising your head to attention only to nod it in appreciative approval. This album is also far from deficient in the melodies department. The beats and melodies will have you jumping on your bed, pounding on the steering wheel, or likewise expressing enjoyment wherever your listening venue may be. This album is new and exciting as 1997 is not afraid to blend exciting touches of folk and pop into their pop-rock/emo/indie music mossaic. Critics are raging, and not just myself, as they proclaim "Victory Records seems to have really found a diamond in the rough." [...].

5 of 5 stars. I had been heavily anticipating this release and I was in no way let down as I still have troubly deciding (and all for good reasons) eactly which track I should name my favorite. Keep an eye out for these kids, they sure know how to make music.

5.0 out of 5 stars I don't say this often, June 21, 2007
This review is from: A Better View Of The Rising Moon (Audio CD)
This is a CD I like so much I can listen to it from the first to last track straight through without skipping any songs, over and over again. It's just good fun music. Label it what you will, but it's really good.
