What happened to Mercer?, November 7, 2007

By this time his new band is suppose to be going, so I'm not sure why this EP is being released, maybe he just had some back material to clear, the website doesn't make that clear. Anyway, this will be very familiar, bright power pop with outstanding hooks. I only have two problems with his music, his very fey voice, and a propensity to stop and start I wish he would work on. But hey, how many people write music this good? I wish it was a full CD, but I'll take it and withhold a star. When this guy is ten years older and has lived through some hard knocks, I think there's a chance he's going to produce something great. All he has to do is not forget how to write hooks like in "Everything". Wow.
